Why? This thread should serve to educate, and not simply to catalog your media appearances. It seems that you are placing self publicity ahead of something that is a somewhat delicate subject. This thread has so far not delivered anything useful.
Have you found this Hercules yet? Yes or no?
Was it shot down? Yes or no?
When at a large airport no access so its thru the fence, but I carry a note of Section 43/44 Terrorism Act 2000, which states ” There are no legal restrictions on photography in a public place, and no presumption of privacy for individuals in a public place”. an extract from Hansard’s record of a House of Lords session on 16/7/08… there’s also something about police being able to look at your camera but cannot confiscate or delete any photo’s.
I bet they love you!
Heard but not seen! Somehow a bright yellow Piper Super Cub snuck past here at 650 feet. I heard it, but saw nothing! The wind is bringing in all sorts of harr and mist.
I agree with the notion that airfields aren’t brownfield sites. When I think of brownfield sites I imagine areas with heavy soil contamination. The incentive for developers is to buy dirty land at a knock-down cost, and eat the cost of cleaning the place up. The Parsons Peebles site in Edinburgh was apparently badly contaminated with heavy metals, to the point that developers stripped away a foot or so of topsoil. Allegedly!
I guess that, beyond removing a few buried Spitfires, this isn’t necessary for airfields, as intense oil and metal contamination would only occur in a few locations? Maybe pay an ecologist to do a survey of the grassy areas and see if they find anything unusual and protected? Is there some other designation you could slap on airfields? Developers must love airfields as they are flat, usually near good transport infrastructure, and typically in pleasant countryside. How do you fight that?
Probably best to ask, rather than snap away first! There is a thread on PPRUNE at the moment about the theft of Rotax engines from small GA fields. Some commentators have speculated that the free availability of so much information online, backed up with high quality photography, is tipping off the thieves as to where and when to strike. Obviously spotters have some sort of symbiotic relationship with airfield staff, as they sit at the fence for hours at a time and tend to spot any nonsense, be it drones or thieves.
SA Bulldog (maybe!) doing some gentle aeros over Yellowcraig Beach today.
How much does he want for the Vulcan? Presumably it would have to be trucked out in sections and reassembled, so would it still be able to run after that? Bruntingthorpe would be a good venue for it if that were to be the case!
jeepman beat me to it! A kill marking would be hilarious.
Funny old forum. I caught a bit of flak for criticising the Hawkinge museum’s decision to cut ‘n’ shut a few Bolingbroke wrecks together and pretend it was a WW2-era Blenheim. At the same time people seem to lament the loss of the ‘good old days’ when Gary Numan flew a Harvard painted to look like a Zero! :applause:
This looks like a branch of Homebase with some aircraft slung about.

I’ve never seen the stars and bars on a Skyvan before.
Any sightings today? I don’t think you can smuggle a B17 into this country undetected, but it seems odd that this aircraft has two threads dedicated to it. I can’t find any images on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, so this will have to remain a mystery.
Everyone and their Granny were up doing aerial survey work over central Scotland today, but alas nothing historic to report here.
I’ve not been able to find this photo on FB. Does anybody have a link?
I think sometimes people mistakenly think that when you colourise a photo, everything has to have a colour. Block-filling the sky a uniform shade of blue is pretty lazy. Likewise the wheels on that unit sitting under the wing probably wouldn’t have had nice walnut-brown tires. The attention to detail on the Hurricane is very nice, however!
