I’m pretty sure that Liam Fox suggested that some means testing wouldn’t go amiss, in terms of benefits paid to pensioners, much as it is for most other people. Liam Fox didn’t 1) imply that such cuts were imminent or that 2) such means testing is imminent. Quite ironic that pensioners are quite happy to see cuts meted out until it affects them personally. As was rightly pointed out on LBC yesterday, you don’t need a winter fuel allowance if you can afford a mansion and you rightly don’t need a free bus pass if you are chauffeur driven everywhere. This is common sense.

The name of the chap responsible for the missing money is remarkably similar to the name of a chap who may, or may not, have fleeced some collectors and museums out of TSR 2 parts around the late ’90s.
Nobody? I’m not so sure about that!
Interesting there are people willing to spend millions hauling P38s out of the Greenland ice when there is one sitting on a Welsh beach.
A bit emotive, no? It is hardly ‘sitting on a beach’ is it?
I’m reminded of the Monty Python sketch of the massive Catholic family singing ‘Every Sperm is Sacred’. I don’t agree that every wreck is worth recovering and, in the case of this aircraft, you would end up with another argument as to whether to restore it to static, flying, or keep it grungy. By contrast, short of getting pounded into 2 dimensions by ice, the Greenland example was in a relatively favorable place to preserve it. The Harlech machine (I agree that the fanciful name given to it by sentimental spotters is tacky) is basically P38 shaped rust, buried in sand, somewhere in a tidal zone on a beach.
For reference. Greenland:

Whilst it is good to have some common ground, I don’t think an interest in historic aviation is a make/break in a relationship. If anything if you meet the right person they will want to get more involved in your hobbies and interests, and you in theres. Conversely you need a bit of a safe haven to retreat into if necessary. For example, my partner is pretty knowledgeable about historic aviation and comes with me to airshows. She has other interests as do I, so we don’t rely on this one shared thing to keep the relationship rolling along.
Watched highlights of the Australia/Uruguay match. Uruguay had neither the brains or the brawn apparently. Their defense was non existent, and you would think they would have noticed Australia were sneaking through via the same route over the first five tries or so….

I’m nothing if not an optimist – anyway, who are you to judge?
Mildly Amused of Edinburgh.
I wish I had seen the Australia/Uruguay match, though I suppose such a one-sided match could be a bit dull to watch. I tuned into the second half of the Scotland/USA match, just in time to watch them start to play well it seems. I also crammed in the second half of the Ireland/Romania match. I admired Romania’s courageous final try, which took the edge of an otherwise major drubbing.
I’m not sure how I feel about the video referral tools that appear to be relied on quite heavily. I’ve noticed that some refs keep the game moving along whilst others take a more broken-up academic approach, with every decision questioned and queried. I can see it being too much of a crutch I suppose.

Who gives a $hit about Sheffield? What was made there?
Knives and forks. Pure hunners o’ them.
Advance commiserations to all my Welsh friends.
I see your sports predictions are about as sharp as your political ones. Very good!
