Air France don’t need new colours in my humble opinion but that design is pretty good if they were to re-design.

Yeah, from a passengers point ov vire it is always nice to see the Needles, Poole Bay the Old Harry Rocks and when you fly over, interesting landscape compared to other areas.

Yes it is where the QE2 is based. There are many cruisers that depart from the city, you only have to drive along some of the major roads out of the city and you see them all lined up.

I was thinking possibly for the business community for the convinience, possibly if it was competitive with the ferry?

About the Britten Norman aircraft, don’t you still get any at Bembridge? I remember I was over in Southampton in May and was at that major shopping centre and low and behold an Aurigny Trislander flew over, so I can imagine the interest it must generate for enthusiasts. Soon I believe you will be seeing the Saab 340s up there on flights from Jersey as well as the Shorts to Bournemouth from both Guernsey and Jersey so quite a variety if they fly over the IOW compared to just those Trislanders/Islanders.

That is the trouble with being on an island. When I travel it normally incurs an over night stop at Gatwick, which in those hotels is quite expensive especially at that Hilton. But what do you do? Risk missing your main flight because of delays on your connection or to be careful and fly the day before?

I’ve always wondered why the IOW doesn’t have a small Trislander connection with someone like Lydd Air to Southampton instead of the trouble of getting from the ferry terminal up to Southampton airport, could possibly work?

Anyway, that Barcelona news is not pleasing, I was sure I heard that BCN and NCE would be started though obviously not.

Tell me about it! We were fogged in over here in the Channel Islands on Wednesday when the UK was having its hottest temperatures. Though we seem to have made up for it now but costal fog was still visable today, in fact there was a huge band of it to the west I noticed.

Just proves that you should never take image advice off of Lufthansa.

It shows what good business people the Irish are! Three airlines in profit and others such as JetMagic seemingly are doing very well. Pitty the whole of Europe was not like that.

I believe the IOM is down to fog and generally bad visibility. Dublin was the same though there was an incident with an Aer Lingus BAe 146 at the holding point for runway 10 at Dublin where it reported a hydraulic leak. Aircraft parked behind the 146 had to shut down and landing aircraft had to circle due to to runway inspections. Chaos….

Was Barcelona not a route that Flybe. were supposed to begin operations to this year? Next year I would like to travel on a single ticket system so I could run GCI-SOU-BCN with the airline but it doesn’t seem to have began like they said.

It is very convenient having a small low cost hub so close instead of flying to London every time you want to fly to the continent.

I quite agree there, free meals and beverages are just another loss making product for short haul airlines, many people eat sufficiently in cafés before they board or they will be willing to pay for an in-flight style deli. However, where competitors lead the way is naturally where other airlines follow. Cost cutting is paramount in the industry with the strength of low cost carriers so airlines such as Aer Lingus and KLM have followed their competitors’ example. But what I find highly annoying is how cuts in standard are not compensated in price and how a no-frills style is easily adapted to in everything but price. People are willing to except this and do not take any noticed that the standard of service has dropped but the prices haven’t.

Sorry, yes they do charge for headphones as T5 said. I was thinking that PTVs on a charter flight was a little too good to be true. 😉

At Bournemouth there are Ryanair to Dublin, Hahn and Glasgow and also Le Cocqs to Alderney, Jersey and Guernsey. Southampton is the Flybe. major hub with services to Murcia, Milan, Alicante, Amsterdam, Belfast, Bergerac, Dublin, Geneva, Guernsey, Ibiza, Jersey, Malaga, Paris and Toulouse
