The sand looks Greak plus there is an island in the back so an island in Greece would be my guess.
Not many people remember this Guernsey based airline so I am glad you have resurrected it from the past. Guernsey Airlines operated services from the Island to a number of UK destinations such as London Gatwick, Manchester, Cambridge etc and I think one or two European destinations also. They operated Viscounts, Heralds and Shorts 330s from the British Air Ferries fleet. The airline was merged into Air Europe Express in 1989.
It is just a number of former Channel Island airlines that sadly have disappeared though it is good to know remember them. Hey, you never know, The States of Guernsey might rename Aurigny to ‘Guernsey Airlines’ now that they are state owned. :p
Their actual livery seems to represent something similar too.
The hub system will never totally disapear but just right now there are too many. There is too much capacity currently in the air than there is demand. Airlines are loosing revenue and they need to bring their seats more in line with the actual demand. Your quickest and most efficient way of doing this is closing a few hubs. In the U.S as a prime if not the best example, there are over 30 hubs yet not enough connecting travellers to supprt this number. No airline wants to blink first yet the reality is that one has to as their operations are excessive in terms of economics in the current environment. Hubs such as Cleveland for Continental, St. Louis for American, Memphis for Northwest and Delta at Dallas are just prime examples but the airlines have a big promblem shaking them off to the extent needed.
It is the same in Europe. While airlines such as Swiss seem to have dropped airports such as Geneva and British Airways at Gatwick, the truth is that they cannot litterally drop hubs because the benefits they get from dropping are wripped out when they park those aircraft and the situation just intensifies. While I except airlines in Europe will continue to operate hubs, I think many will dissapear along with airlines due to the much needed consildation.
I felt the same yesterday. I’m taking down all the 777 registrations thinking that they must be the most interesting aircraft around and there you have all these spotters running around after a small Learjet and an Air Bosna MD-81. I felt out of place taking down the everyday heavy aircraft. Though I guess everybody to their own taste, I would probably give a spotter wierd looks if they went all mad over a Shorts 360 or Dash 8. For goodness sake they are no 747
Actually I just realised that the model I bought of the Corsair 747-300 has the registration F-GSEX as noted by Hand. I was wondering why there was a large pair of lips next to the Corsair titles.
Oh sorry I though you meant in the UK. If it were at CPH it would have most probably been an Air Baltic BAe 146-200.
At the moment there is a completely white Flybe. BAe 146 flying around I believe. G-ZAPO leased from Titan so it could fit in with Ren Frew’s example.
Thanks guys for your feedback.
Typhoo was the tea and Kenco was the coffee. They had them in those horrible paper mugs that are used at coffee machines. It doesn’t pass for a good service in my opinion when tickets cost over Β£200 return and they consider themselves as a low cost carrier. The actual Skydeli was not available on the flight only on flights to Europe. There is a selection of snacks such as crisps, chocolate, packet cakes, biscuits etc though nothing at all special.
I used to enjoy travelling Flybe. Their service was generally very good though from my travels to Gatwick and also Southampton back in May, there seems to have been a dramatic drop in quality of service since their re-branding and introduction of a low cost service. While I could except this in principle if the flights were cheap, they were not and as expensive as they usually were back last year when they were just plain old British European.
EGNM, an Air Europa 737 was a brilliant sight when you only see a Saab 340 or Dash 8 on a regular basis. Even the constant British Airways 737s didn’t damper my spirits. Those Heathrow, Gatwick and dare I say it, Leeds/Bradford spotters do not know how lucky they are to have larger aircraft on a regular basis.

I know I know, I totally went against my normal stance and reversed my principles. If there is any justification it was 7 in the morning and I was in need of a good cup of tea even if it was weak Kenco. Anyway, it wasnβt particularly good and I was left wondering why I wasted the money if that is any sort of conciliation.
Le Meridian is nice and comfortable. I stayed there last year though sadly the room was looking over the North Terminal car park. However, room service was good even if their βtouch and payβ mentality on the mini bar was a little overboard. From the actual gallery you can see the hotel and I did notice what good views those rooms have, thus I think my next trip might be a weekend job. π
CEO of Aurigny….lol.
I know what you mean from experience π
Bonjour π
I wish I could agree with you there A330Crazy, though Mr. Men are not exactly the height of coolness nowadays. That AOL disk that is lying on the floor might possibly be a better option. π
