That is sad news not to see Qantas serving Rome, must have a few spare 747s around now then. Is there any other European routes likely for the chop like Paris?
I guess it could be even more reason for Alitalia to start a Sydney service.
How is Australian Airlines doing on a whole? Such destinations like Kota Kinabalu would be interesting to monitor at the moment. I guess it is for tourism mostly?
Pretty good for connecting traffic through Dubai.
Greekdude,
An “expo” is a world fair or exposition. Different advances in technology, architecture and fashion and other commercial aspects with amusements and pavilions etc. Last one was Hanover 2000 with the next one being Paris 2004. Have you ever heard of the Great Exhibition in London in the late 1800s?
I thought the extra A330 was going down to Dubai or South Africa as proposed new routes?
I actually travelled on G-MIDJ. The damaged flight must of been on behalf of MyTravel or someone similar.
I am used to getting that much on a 45-minute flight and paying for it.
I remember being able to get a hot breakfast once, believe it or not I got a better breakfast on the short hop than on the long haul flight I had just come off. So definite standards of service have changed but so have the ticket prices (theoretically, £65.00 one way is no way low cost).
Nice pictures…congratulations Greekdude. Some very interesting and inspiring posts have come out of that 1000 😉
The airlines always do a good special livery for the Expos. I can vaguely remember the Lufthansa one for Hannover 00. Nice picture anyway.
Are you going to put that on http://www.airlinemeals.net/ ? I am sure they would be pleased to have a Volare meal, it would be their first picture actually for the airline 🙂
The Fokker 70 would do all right at LCY. It would be excellent to see them operating jets and would open up possibly some new expansion of routes etc, although at the moment they are on a winning formula with their current aircraft.
Their idea of serving regional airports and potentially expanding upon them as done very well and has had a very positive outcome on regions. As you have said what they do for the local economies is excellent and we have benefited from continental tourism from the Benelux region from this as an example. No doubt an area like Exeter and Antwerp will benefit even more in the future.
Definitely a good airline voted best for travel to and from the Benelux region I believe.
That does show that Star is a quality alliance, I have never disputed it. Star does strive for quality also, must be an obvious part of their success, but what they do not do is market it as much as Oneworld.
Oneworld- “oneworld™ revolves around you,”
Star- “The Airline Network For Earth,”
You see what I mean? Oneworld markets itself as a quality alliance rather than quanitity, whereas Star although a good quality alliance, markets itself as a global alliance with worldwide connections. I don’t dispute Star is a quality alliance it is just seems how it is marketed to the traveller.
No, I think there was a substantial population around Berlin, or enough to sustain flights anyway around the early 1990s. The flight I was thinking about was a special charter for a Vietnamese special event, taking the European Vietnamese population home for it and also part of a trial flight.
I also think Vietnam is a growing German tourist destination but either way it will be good for European growth.
That is what you get for not checking the price of beverages on a low cost carrier. Amusing picture 🙂
EAL sound pretty good for a charter service.
Is this Travel City anything to do with Bath Travel?
Rumour suggested they will be kept till 2007, however, probable capacity changes could see further utilisation of the A330 etc rather than new aircraft.
