Ka-52 and Mi-28N typically operate together, with Ka-52 doing recon and then calling in Mi-28N to do blasting.

Let me correct it for you.

ISIS has nothing to do with conquest of Idlib. It was Nusra that did it. Nusra is US ally, tacitly.

Yeh, Blah is all we can say today pretty much.

I’m also thinking what the hell was Putin thinking 12 months ago!

Last year Assad was winning. If you recall, Homs was recaptured last year. Rebels captured Idlib this year so Russia has to intervene.

I do believe Ka-52s will eventually be deployed. Apaches were not deployed in Libya until several months after the air strikes started. Ka-52s have superb self defense suites and have much better survivability compared to Mi-24s.

Any speculation on which drones this could refer to… Would be amusing if they were one’s purchased from Israel.

    Could be Eleron-3SV

But how do the Coaltion and Russia/Syrian government pick targets? How do they operate alongside each other when they are so wary of the other side watching what they do and how they do it? Who points the finger when there are civilian casualties from the Russian air strikes?

Is it really likely that Russia will actively get its military involved in anything other than carving out an enclave for Assad?

Syrian soldiers on the ground call in airstrikes. Su-30SMs blast with PGMs. Assad will never give up Idlib. It’s too close to Latakia for comfort.

    Both are good.

If the Russians want to keep Su-35 engine technology out of Chinese hands, selling the Su-35 to Pakistan is not the way to do it.

The composition of the metal is not something that can be figured out. It is an alien secret. Nazis got it when they traveled to Tibet and got the ancient Sanskrit texts. Then the US, Russia, Britain, France got it from the texts after WW2.

They have to coordinate in that sort of situation. Whilst we all want the great powers to be buddies, it’s certainly a novel situation with no clear end game and lots of potential for misunderstandings.

Buddies? Yea right. Russia and the US are state enemies.

If Russia openly start bombing anyone it will make management of the airspace interesting though won’t it?

No because the US don’t bomb Nusra and Russia don’t bomb ISIS. They won’t be crossing paths. The US will operate in eastern Syria. Russia will operate in Idlib.

IMO Russia will not be bombing ISIS but rather they will bomb Nusra which have taken over Idlib. Idlib is crucial because it is right next to Latakia.
