So where would be the best place to pick up an S5000 these days????
I got mine from Pixmania – the S5000 has now been replaced by the 4 megapixel S5500 which has a few improvements including a lower ISO setting – the S5000s is 160 which can make it difficult to get a low enough shutter speed to blur prop blades (often using a nd filter is the only solution)

I’d love a copy if possible. Please.
That Bear is amazing, the method of rubbing aluminium powder over the whole thing gives it a brilliant finish and apparently only adds 8oz to the weight.
I have seen the big Vulcan display at Bruntingthorpe- does anybody know if the (nearly finished) gas turbine Comet that was there in the spring has flown yeat, that really was a beauty! 🙂
Is this the Comet you were enquiring about? It really is a fantastic model and appeared at the Large Model Airshow Rufforth in August.

Great photos – very much appreciated on this dull day! Broadband has just arrived in the village (about the last place on earth to get it!) so I no longer have to make myself a coffee while the pictures are downloading.
Taken with a Cosina lens too! Mind you I bought one of their 100mm macro lenses and must say I was pleased with the quality – perhaps not the most robust of lenses but with care it should be okay.
Thanks for all your efforts. I enjoyed seeing all the photos on the thread. Maybe it would be simpler to just have voting for usernames – after all if anyone does want to vote for the user rather than the picture I don’t think it is possible to avoid this (as I don’t know anyone on this forum I wouldn’t get any votes this way anyway – mind you if you have ever seen me with a couple of film cameras around my neck my Fuji S5000 to my eye and a camcorder hanging from a shoulder and cursing at a messed up shot – you may give me a sympathy vote!) I for one wouldn’t mind if the prize was removed from the competition as it gave me enough encouragement just seeing people vote for my pictures. What do others think?
It is also available in a 3 disc set with A Bridge too Far and Great Escape but I think you miss out on the extras disc with this set so it may be worth making it clear to Santa that you want the 2 disc version.
A few taken with my Fuji S5000 at Elvington and Breighton.
A few more from Breighton.
A rather dusty Halifax – the Airfix 1:72 scale model. In my younger years I made most of the Airfix kits but this is all I have left. The first one I made was the Curtiss Helldiver – I have 2 of these kits (thanks to Ebay) ready to be made as I want to try and do a better job than the first one (I was about 8) – they’ll probably be worse though. I remember being quite proud of a kittyhawk I built but the paint I used melted the plastic and ruined it.
A few from me taken with an S5000 – the first 4 are from Elvington just after I’d bought the camera (I’d had a practice at the large model airshow the week before) and the others are from the September fly-in at Breighton.
Vampire T11 XH278 at the Yorkshire Air Museum, Elvington.
Glad to see these Gareth. I arrived late (just as the weather got worse) and had to leave early but I don’t feel so bad about missing the Super Ace now I’ve seen your photos. Breighton is always worth a visit – no matter what the weather.
Great pictures. Many thanks for persevering with photoshop & posting.
Glad you got that shot as it was one of the highlights of a great day.
I’m thinking of upgrading to a Nikon digital slr next year so it is nice to know what they are capable of in the right hands!
