Superb pictures Gareth.
I hope they encourage more to go to Breighton.
lovely collection of photos there Drossel – and you managed a shot of the Buchon from the side with the cowlings on! 🙂
Cheers Gareth – I take my hat off to you though for your shots from the day – they are superb. Were you the chap with the Cannon gear I saw? Glad to see you captured that low pass by the Spitfire – I was using my film camera for that so I don’t know if I got it – probably not. He was very low wasn’t he!
Nice pics Drossel! I can’t wait to see a pic of that Buchon in the sky! 😎

Thanks. I too can’t wait to see that Buchon fly – it must surely be very close now.

Care to mention the model site ?
I’d better not name them as my site also sells models so they are a competitor of mine. I mentioned it just as a warning of how some companies hold onto your card details. It isn’t confined to online purchases though I had a debit on my card from a restaurant that I had not visited for a year (as I only went to it while on holiday). My card company had no hesitation in doing a refund but if I ate out more rather than being stuck to my computer screen I may have missed it!
As an internet trader I have bought and sold using paypal. I also use a company for accepting credit card orders – I won’t mention the name of them but will say that they are owned by a large UK bank – their system handles all the card details etc and I never get to see them. In my experience paypal just keeps getting better whilst the other company just get worse (they were great to start with but I was one of their few customers then). The number of attempted fraudulent transactions with other people’s cards is frightening (I have had quite a few US based cards being used for delivery to other countries – thankfully my anti fraud sytems have detected them) – it just shows you must be careful when using your credit card online although most of the risk is for the trader. One thing I do use as an alternative when I am buying is the Cahoot Webcard. This gives me a unique card number and I can set the maximum value for every transaction. Great if I want to use a web site that does not appear as secure as it should be (one model site I bought from tried to charge my card 6 months after I had ordered – they had never contacted me to say they were out of stock)
R/C Comet, Calcutta, Vulcan & B52
Had a great weekend at the Yorkshire Air Spectacular – Rufforth airfield. There were some superb models including a B52 and Comet – I really must get back into model flying as it is the closest I’ll ever get to flying a warbird! Attached are some photos that I took (in practice for the full size airshow this coming weekend at Elvington). They are of a superb Comet, Short Calcutta, Vulcan, B52 and a shot to give an idea of the B52 (also in the shot is a model Beech Expeditor that sadly had an accident and came out of the nearby hayfield in pieces)
I got one of these Revell kits off Ebay for a tenner a year or so ago. I have seen secondhand dealers offering them for as much as £30. Nice kit.
