Ha ha! An Irish Seafire via an installment plan :p Could go on for years….

🙂 – no it came from a lot further south (and west)! It has Azure blue paint on it which makes me think that it is from the fuselage underside on the port side of the carb air intake, hence the story that it came from “under the wing”. A plan view I managed to find of a 22/24 shows a similar looking access panel.

Warbird helicopters have proved to be very popular in South Africa with over 20 examples of the Alouette II on the Non-type certified register – most of them being ex-French Army. Sadly though few still fly in their former military markings. A number of ex-SAAF Alouette IIIs have also appeared on the register as well as a few Hueys.

Can not help you with that, aa, but there is a thread in a German Forum with lots of pics of Do 27 and Do 28. But it´s in German only, and you have to log in to be able to see the pictures.

Yes – indeed:) The details of the dimensions and radii will be very useful indeed, as well as the colour specifications for the Federal German flag.
    Thank you very much, Wieesso!

What German book You have ? Is it “Flugzeug Profile #2 Dornier Do-27” ?

Yes – that’s the one. I have also obtained the Air Britain production list publication – but that too is of relatively minor use in this regard.

Yes, the Do-27 is to be re-painted much like in the image. I have a plastic model kit plan, an old Aviation News article and a thin German language book on the type to help me so far but scaling up drawings on such a small scale to full size leaves too much to error.

A copy of the original colours and markings three view drawings would help tremendously but failing that anything accurate would be welcome.

Again, thanks for some constructive advice. I cannot say any more at this stage since I was merely appointed to conduct a feasibility study – at the moment still in in its preliminary stages. Therefore any further information either on this thread or as a PM will remain appreciated.

    Thanks for the info.

I have spoken to him and he would like to know about vintage aircraft trusts/museums/collections that might be willing to house them and take them under their wing, as it were.
This is why I thought of the Imperial War Museum at Duxford or perhaps one of the other lodger organizations.

    Any thoughts on this?
