Flypast 15th September 1945
Hi Mart,
I know that these took part in the flypast led by Bader:-
Carey, Thompson, Tuck, Ellis, Vigors, Crowley-Milling, Bader, Lofts, Drake, Brothers and Johnnie Kent.
Hope this helps
Gerry
Who said anything about e***:o
The number is 310193677471
Looks exactly the same as mine but surely there aren’t loads of these about!
All the best
Gerry
I have contacted the seller to let them know that I strongly suspect the item is a fake. I have informed them of my copy of a similar report.
I wouldn’t want them to receive negative feedback without realising that the item is potentially a forgery.
Gerry
Thanks Andy,
Yes I suspect that Voytech will be able to confirm my suspicions.
If they are, as I suspect, not original then what can I do to stop someone else falling into the same trap as me?
I’m sure the seller isn’t aware that the item is potentially a fake.
I can confirm that the English in myine is also poor. I think that this was done deliberately to add to the effect.
Gerry
Blimey,
I didn’t realise that my posting could potentially bring about such wrath Andy!!
In light of that perhaps the moderators will remove it? I don’t mind.
I only posted it as an attempt to stop the seller receiving bad feedback and an unwitting enthusiast being stung for £500.00.
I have been on the wrong end of a deal like this and wish someone had warned me prior to me handing over the cash.
Gerry
Fair point Austern,
Perhaps I could interest you in my combat report – signed by Josef Frantisek and only £200.00 :diablo:
In all seriousness I think it would be unwise to ignore the advice of recognised experts in this field.
Only time will tell – lets see what it goes for.
All the best for 2010
Gerry
There are a couple of decent pictures in Tim Vigors book “Lifes too short to cry”.
I’m not sure where I stand regarding copyright so therefore have not reproduced them here.
Gerry
Hi all,
Thanks for your contributions to this post – always appreciated.
I have had a reply from the sender who confirms that he has had the item carbon dated and verified as genuine.
This therefore brings this thread to a finish.
Thanks once again
Gerry
Hi Tim,
Yes I have mailed Anah several times with no answer.
I hope all is well with him, unfortunately I don’t have a contact number.
All the best for 2010.
Gerry
I’m pleased that you thought they were worthwhile.
In my attempt to contact the family I placed articles in the local free and subscription papers, I also contacted the local news (TV and Radio). However, I failed to receive an acknowledgement from either the tv or radio.
There was a large full page item placed in the local paper which covers a wide area.
The paper received one reply telling them that Ronnie Peters sister was still alive and that they would make contact.
However that was a year ago and to date I have had no further contact.
Now having read some of the letters you can understand why they need to be with the family.
Incidentally I have posted about a quarter of the letters etc I have. Unfortunately no further photographic images.
I also have about 20 letters from his family to his mother and father offering sympathy etc.
All the best
Gerry
Kev35,
As I explained earlier, I bought these by accident. They were listed as letters from a 1 Squadron airman with no further details.
I have tried and tried to contact the family to return them without success.
I have listed these in chronological order:-
RAF Donnie Nook 1939

Last mail home. written on Jan 31st 1942 just a few hours before he was fatally wounded on Feb1st 1942
Hi,
I have been trying to collect pictures for a new edition of Wynns book due out later this year.
It is really difficult to gain access to new pictures – especially at this late stage so I understand your frustrations.
One of the problems I have encountered is that people with images are unwilling to share them. I have been told in the past that previously unseen images are more valuable, therefore they don’t want to share them.
I appreciate that this sounds selfish, and it is not an opinion I subscribe to personally.
I am unaware of the collection you are talking about so can’t help regarding that.
Another problem I have experienced is to provide images for a proposed book only to find reproductions of them for sale on an internet auction site!! Bloody frustrating. I am sure quite a few people on here have experienced that.
(I must add that this person does not use this site.)
If there are any in particular you are after I may be able to assist, though I am still a long way short of pictures of every participant.
All the best
Gerry
p.s. Has anyone heard from Ken Wynn recently. I have been trying to contact him urgently for some weeks now without luck.
Hi Tim,
I for one would like to see the combat reports if you get time to put them on show.
I hear from colleagues at Moreton that the snow is heavy near you. I do hope you are all coping.
Best wishes
Gerry
Hi Tim,
mmmmmm – 9th October 1940 a quiet day for you Sir?
Don’t be shy
