Cheers Andy
That is really depressing to see.
What a complete and utter waste of our heritage.
Left to rot and decay for years only to suffer the same fate as the control tower.
Gerry
That is truly dreadful news.
What a waste of an exceptional piece of history.
Sad start to 2016.
Gerry
Hi Chris
You could try the heritage hangar at Biggin Hill.
They have a good variety of ww2 types and may be willing to help.

Gerry
Dear all,
Personally I don’t think the time constraints of a film would allow for sufficient detail.
I would much rather a series similar in style to ‘Band of Brothers’ that covers just one squadrons involvement in the BoB from July 10th to October 31st.
501 squadron would be a good example. Their ORB is fairly detailed for accuracy and there are numerous aircrew combat reports available to help visualise the aerial side of things. Additionally, there is sufficient film footage of aircrew being interviewed post battle to narrate the opening of each episode (in the same style as Band of Brothers).
The narrative would then allow viewers to engage with the different characters on the squadron and consequently feel a sense of personal loss as characters were killed in action.

Cheers all
We plan to go the restaurant at the airfield so will keep an eye out for the display at the same time.

We headed out for dinner tonight and drove into Abbeville.
Everywhere was closed. I was really disappointed.
We did eventually find somewhere to eat near the station at Abbeville but it was pretty poor.
I will try the aerodrome restaurant first.
Many thanks
Gerry
Cheers Moggy
At least I know where to get a bite to eat now.
All the best
Gerry
Hi
Many thanks for taking the time to take these images and make them available to us all.
There are certainly some interesting details among the pages.
regards
Gerry
Hi Scott,
If you PM me I will give you my contact details and let you know what dates I can do.
Cheers
Gerry
Scott
Whilst you are in Central London you could take a trip to Victoria Embankment and see the Battle of Britain memorial. It is very near the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey.
The Abbey has the 75th Anniversary Service in September as well. You would need to apply for tickets for that but there is no cost.
Cheers
Gerry
Hi Scott,
If you get are willing to take a train 30 minutes out of London to Kent I will meet you at the station and drive you to the battle of Britain museum at Hawkinge and the memorial at Capel Le Ferne.
We could stop at Kenley and Biggin Hill on the way back.
It would need an early start though.
Gerry
Cheers mate.
Fingers crossed!!:stupid:
Cheers Andy
I thought you may know him but didn’t want to bother you.
Gerry
Cheers Graham,
I didn’t think of that!
Shows how much we rely on the internet now.
Many thanks
Gerry
Hi Dave
I have 234 squadrons ORB.
Is there a particular date that you have in mind?
Keith Lawrence flew several different spitfires with 234 Squadron during the Battle of Britain.
In September ’40 he mostly flew R6959 but I don’t know if that was ‘AZ-R’.
