yes, Lockheed or Lockheed Martin. the difference is irrelevant. it certainly wasn’t any Chinese entity.
Who’s the inventor? Besides the fact that he / she / they was / were an American citizen(s), I assume.
Who cares if it was Lockheed or Lockheed Martin ? It wasn’t a Chinese invention if you want to make it look like they invented DSI. Chinese interest in DSI began a few years after the F-16 prototype with DSI had already flown.
So who invented DSI? Lockheed? That’s defunct.
it’s obvious that Western Europe and Russia haven’t developed DSI because of 2 reasons:
1) a fighter on which to develop DSI doesn’t exist for Western Europe, except the Gripen NG.
2) Russia doesn’t seem to be interested in it. if they wanted to, they’d have developed it. If the Chinese could, the Russians definitely could. Unless industrial espionage played such a large part that the Russians find that insurmountable. 😉
1) Let’s not count Gripen NG before it hatches.
2) Hot China are more technologically advanced than bitter cold Russia, so “If the Chinese could, the Russians definitely could.” does not hold true.
J-10B superior to the F-16 Block 52+ and Rafale ? And you say that with a record of staunch neutrality and zero bias, do you? 😀
better radar, better airframe (DSI), better engine (WS-10), radar absorbing paint, better cockpit, better ECM
yes I noticed how many times he mentioned that the JF-17 was the first aircraft to get DSI even though it was on the F-16 and the F-35 prototype earlier.
One must say, it is the one feature on the JF-17 that no other production aircraft have as yet and he obviously feels very proud about that. Whether it means so much in practice is quite another matter. It is no doubt useful, but not THAT useful, else LM would’ve been offering it as part of upgrades to customers and also would’ve had it on the F-16 Block 60, F-16IN and the new F-16V.
DSI has to be very useful, otherwise why are the Chinese putting it on everything including JL-9 trainers?
Are you seriously suggesting that Russia is so backward in CFD that it cannot develop DSI if it wanted to ?! 😀
Even West Europe doesn’t have DSI. So what makes you think Russia has DSI like China does?
They didn’t assess the advantages as being worth the trouble I suppose. Lockheed Martin are the ones who invented DSI after all.
To be fair, it wasn’t Lockheed Martin which invented DSI. Back then it was the Lockheed Corporation before the merger which was the first to explore DSI. AVIC didn’t exist until 2008.
Apparently DSI makes everything else irrelevant.
DSI is a significant breakthrough. I know you are jealous because your country Russia doesn’t have DSI.
No. It’s rather enhanced 50/52 version. This version has a new radar APG-68(V)9, new IFF system, the HMCS, new (internal) ECM suite, passive missile warning, provisions for larger drop tanks and CFT’s and some other goodies.
F-16 designations are extremely confusing. Maybe this is the Block 50/52 as referred to here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZ67uX8SVOE
Would love to see Japan getting F-35s. J-10 Generation Zwei + J-20 + F-35 = a new chapter of East Asia air power
Well its supersonic and has no gap between fuselage and intake ie its diverterless. Sort of.
True. But it doesn’t have a bump which is what a DSI is.
If we want to be pedantic, what about the F-8 Crusader. :diablo:
Or does the MiG-21 qualify? Or the F-86 even? 😀
Does F-8 have DSI?
The engines- one uses GE the other uses Pratt IIRC.
Doesn’t Block 50/52+ refer to anything over Block 50/52, such as Block 60, IN, V etc.?
What’s the difference between F-16 Block 50/52 and Block 50/52+? According to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZ67uX8SVOE , Block 50/52 were from the year 2003. J-10 Generation Uno is comparable to Block 50/52, the one that doesn’t have AESA.
lol
I don not believe J-10A and J-10B are the official designations, so instead I prefer to use generations when referring to J-10.
