p.s. The moderator in question will not be answering here because he has (to the relief of some of you) thrown in the towel. You have succeeded & you have what you wanted – Happy New Year.
No need for that to be honest, tell the moderator to come back, as you rightly say we can all vote with our ‘feet’. So with that said that’s exactly what I’m going to do from now on. 😉
And Lance… Please at least open up your PM inbox to accept replies. None of us are beyond criticism after all. Least of all me… 😉
Allen, you need to clear your inbox mate 😉
Thank you though for claiming my last 4%. :diablo:

Have you been drinking mate? 😉
Stop talking in riddles and tell us what you mean exactly, you’re going to have to elaborate a little further. If someone has upset you then drop the Webmaster a line.
Drinking… I wish ! 😉 Webmaster… waste of time and effort… 😡
I think that after several years of this being one of the best commercial avaition forums, that lately it’s become overly moderated, far too many opinions sidelined into ‘sub forums’ that just don’t get visited and that it’s time to bring it all back together. It’s 2010, I’ve been posting here for a long, long time, and yes I do realise that most of my views don’t mean very much to the vast amount of clever types that do indeed have day to day experience of the commercial aviation world that some of us mortals ‘aspire’ too. 😉 But, that for me is very much part of the charm…:)
Now then, as much as I initally approved of the experiment of sub-dividing the commercial forum into all sorts of categories (general chat, trip reports, photography, modelling, airline meal reviews etc !!!! ) My opinion nowadays is that it should all be brought back together, for a while at least and also that the magazine names should be re-applied to the various Key Publishing fora, like it used to be. Yes, apply certain legal disclaimers if necessary but don’t disassociate the web element from the paper purchasers.
I’ve got a tremendous amount of respect for anyone who agrees to ‘mod’ this stuff, I’ve been there and done it after all. I think however that recent statements about it not being a “democratic” process will only contribute to this being an even more sparsely populated set of discussions…
IMHO…:)
Silly old sods should’ve retired to enjoy their Grandchildren years ago
Some might say that ‘musically’ they retired about twenty five years ago.

There was a wee old Jimmy who used to drink in my old local in Glasgow years ago. He used to be an aircraft engineer, working mainly in Africa. He used to tell me some amazing stories about his experiences out there, but I’ll always remember the time he told me about climbing inside the hold of a 727 to search for an electrical fault, to find “organic matter growing” amongst the wiring ! 😮
Oh, I wonder which particular charity calendar that was? :diablo:
I never got to find out, sadly… (snigger) 😀

Here’s my experience…
Took the money straight from my account
…never sent me nowt….
…dont reply to emails….
…dont ever answer the phone.
Sounds remarkably like my dealings with Ryanair when I attempted to purchase one of their charity calendars.

I know there were a few suggestions in favour of BA World Tails. My only reason for not taking that on this week is that i didn’t know how many people would have pictures of them (i know my only shots are pre-digital). Any thoughts on this?
Well those BA world tails were most certainly around after people started using digital cameras, and even if you have good old fashioned film originated stuff, what’s wrong with making it ‘digital’ i.e scanning it ?
Anyhow, here’s a couple of my Continental shots, including a passsing Easyjet too…

In all fairness to Ship 741, one has to consider that Heathrow and Gatwick will become saturated at some point in the future. It is better to start planning early in that case. But the first point was the proposed cost. Obviously a lot of guys are going to try line their pockets out of the deal.
Expansion and development of regional UK airports into long haul, point to point with newer, less fuel hungry types such as the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 would potentially take the pressure off of Heathrow and Gatwick to expand or indeed be replaced. I suspect those of us currently fed up being herded through LHR only to fly back across our own neighbourhoods enroute to North America, for example, would welcome such a development.
Methinks Virgin Atlantic already have an eye on this approach with their GLA experiment the past few years and subsequent 787 and interim A330 orders…
Not sure I would have liked to have been that bloke running around under the aircraft!
MOL…sorry… LOL !!!;)
What about Alan Lancaster (he was one of the founder members) and John Coghlan.
They both fell out with the front men years ago didn’t they..? Sadly a trait so common in many a band. Maybe U2 should get a gong for being the same line up in a successful rock band since the band began in 1976. Ok, maybe just the bassist for being the token Englishman amongst the lineup…;)
