    When I worked in news, we always had to get written authority from Railtrack to shoot in their stations. Of course those rules were somehow forgotten when it meant a bit of PR for Railtrack.

    I’m surprised BAA hasn’t slapped a ban (sorry charge) on shooting planes from their airports. I’m sure it can’t be far away ?

    Can’t remember where I recently read it, but someone has been charged at St Maarten for throwing something at a landing airliner. The pilot returned with police to the beach and identified the culprit.

    There’s now talk of fencing off the area of beach under the approach.

    I had exactly the same problem at Belfast City Airport in October when I flew over to catch the Concorde at Aldergrove. I attempted to take a shot of the ATP I flew on from the tarmac as we disembarked. A security female gave me a bollocking although she didn’t make me delete my card.

    I took one anyway from behind the glass, you can see her scowling at me. Given your experience I’m lucky I wasn’t arrested I suppose?

    Much like BWIA, Virgin finds that a large number of it’s PAX via Gatwick in particular, to Florida are Scots. There’s been no firm intention or declaration from Virgin to start a Scottish service, just an awful lot of petitioning, especially as the London hubs are becoming more saturated.:D

    They will have two A340’s Greekdude. BWIA’s Manchester service has been heavily populated by Scots for a long time now, hence the natural progression into Scotland itself. As we’ve mentioned in the past few days… us Scots don’t see an awful lot of sunshine, unlike you Southern Californian’s. Demand for trips to the hotspots, such as the Carribean is huge for such a small country.

    Hopefully the next announcement from Scottish airports will be that of a Virgin-Atlantic connection to Florida and also (fingers crossed) a direct, point to point US West coast service.

    As for Trinidadians and Carribean dwellers coming to Scotland.. well we may have a cold climate, but we’re very, very warm.:D

    Update… BWIA are only in negotiation with PIK, there’s a small possibility of GLA playing a royal flush I gather… ?:)

    They’ve been talking about a Scottish destination for a long time, the smart money was on GLA as that is where the greater part of their Scottish PAX come from. Well done PIK and I look forward to seeing those beautiful A340’s soon.

    Going by that seating plan, I was on the equvalent of 12A when I flew Monarch in May last year. Right by the door with legroom galore.:D
