An Air UK Herald as per above featured quite heavily in the opening scene of a classic episode of Minder on Paramount Comedy Channel tonight. Just thought I’d mention it…:D

Absolutely, now that the sun has gone down I expect things to cool down significantly, blue skies all day so far, but a severe frost and then some, by all accounts for tonight and the morn.

Yes, but you’re camera may not be able to do it. In principle you would want to have full manual control of exposure, such as with a full manual camera like an SLR. You want to expose the shot on the main item of concern (i.e. the plane) If there is a large area of contrasting information in the shot such as snow, sky or suchlike then your average handy snapper will be fooled into evening out the brightest part of the shot and underexposing the dimmest part, which in your case is the plane.

I don’t know which model you have, but a lot of digi cameras have manual over-rides and you should be able to ride the exposure level a little in either direction. It’s worth reading the picture information on the display that you got with the shots you’ve already done and experiment with the exposure readings manually. Look for the f-number and try adjusting by let’s say half stop increments. The higher the f-number the darker it gets and the lower the f-number the brighter it gets.
If you can’t do this with your camera then try keeping the snow out of frame to let the auto exposure work more closely on the subject matter.

I don’t know why they’re cancelling flights to Glasgow ? It’s been +2 degrees all afternoon and positively spring-like.

Ah… that crash was Binter Mediterraneos. Are they still owned by Iberia or did the entire group fall into Canarian hands ? Interesting quote from the accident report.. “The pilot erroneously shut down both engines”.

No doubt I’ll be seeing some of their fleet at TFS next week.:D

Great shots WD, those whiteout shots aren’t bad at all, if your camera has auto iris then it’ll underexpose the rest of the picture a little to try and compensate for what it thinks is a big over-exposed area.

But as I say, those aren’t bad at all, I’m hoping to get my own snow collection this week when we get hit by the promised Arctic blast of weather either today or tonight. An interesting aside about Vermont… George Clooney is making a movie just now based in Vermont, except it’s being filmed in and around Glasgow. I guess we share a similar landscape ? 😀

Didn’t one of their pilots plant one just short of the threshold a few years ago ? I could be wrong, anyone remember ?

Good music is always out there and has never gone away, you just need to go out and support your local bands and local venues.

Live music is king, go and see some tonight !
