It’s confirmed. The new T2 will be operational by May and will be a reworking of the St Andrew’s building to something like 4 times the size.

International business will be lo-co and not long haul as I previously speculated. The new terminal will be situated at the east side of the lo-co pier and is a being received as an attempt to attract lo-co business to GLA at a competitive rate and also as a method of ‘freeing up’ check in facilties in the main terminal for the new international operators. A further 4 new aircraft stands will be constructed and the building will add 15 check ins.

The new terminal will be linked to the main facility by a powered walkway and is estimated to be costing BAA something in the region of £12 million. The smart money is on an Easyjet attempt to nulify Ryanair at PIK by announcing a new and substantial UK/European hub

As for the Globespan/Transat question… ? Globespan will provide feeder flights from GLA to european destinations on behalf of Transat (and vice versa) who will import north american tourists to Scotland and the UK in a reciprocal kind of fashion. Globespan are expanding their 737 fleet, whilst Transat are already established at GLA with A310’s and A330’s.:D
