Renfrew was being used for aviation from 1912 and that terminal building was built in 1954. Sadly, by the seventies it was derelict after all services were transferred to nearby GLA in 1966.
Just before demolition with the glass removed…

Perhaps because not everyone on here visits the Airliner Forum and not everyone on the Airliner Forum comes on here 🙂Thanks A330 for the photos.

Exactly.
Nice pics Andrew, I love old airport buildings like that, very evocative of times past and the romance of aviation. I wish they’d kept the old Renfrew Airport terminal intact after it closed. They dithered and dithered before eventually demolishing it and building a Tesco’s store in the late 70’s, some ten years after it closed to make way for Glasgow Airport.
Here it is in it’s prime and just before demolition.

First of all ill start with saying i am very surprised and dissapointed that a major disaster as such has happened and theres not a single thread about it. Instead of posting stupid posts like what kind of potatoe you like and what kind of meat you like, these events are more important than all that. These are human lives here and not vegetables.
Calm down mate, we’re all well aware of the disaster here. Don’t forget that we all wake up at different times around the world and news can take a while to filter through. The main news story in the UK today has been the brutal shooting of a policeman in Leeds by an out and out psychopath.

I believe Lowestoft will be sacked in March next year by an invading army of hairy arsed Picts !:D Prisoners will be taken and marched to Glasgow where they will be forced to buy several rounds of strong lager at a musical venue in the East End.

Built in St Nazaire, France wasn’t it? Loads of dockworkers and families were killed and injured when a gangway collapsed last month during a families look round day.
The QE2 however, was built about 3 miles away from my place at John Brown’s yard on the River Clyde.
