RE: Aer Lingus
I flew from Glasgow to Los Angeles via Dublin this June and thought it was a great airline. Nothing was any trouble, food and drink service was excellent and we had as much as we wanted. This was in economy class too. The Glasgow/Dublin flights were by Bae 146, short and sweet, not really any time for food anyway. LA flights were A300.
Nice plane, nice people.
RE: Luxair Fokker 50 crashes in Fog
Latest BBC online report says 16 dead and 6 seriously injured.
RE: Greek spotters
Didn’t they go out there on one of those Ian Allan aviation tours? Surely someone should have been aware of the regulations concerning spotting at Greek military establishments ? Or maybe as suggested, the Greek authorities were keeping it a secret.
RE: Shorts Belfast
There was a story in the Sunday Mail the other day about an alleged conman who is trying to attract investor money to set up an airline based at Prestwick using one of the aformentioned Belfast’s.
Apparently he has tried this scam on numerous occasions before and nothing ever gets off the ground, quite literally. This latest venture was supposed to involve the Belfast flying into Prestwick this week as part of a PR launch.
RE: DHL To change c/s???
I like it. I’m all for bright colours at the moment, probably as a result of the washout UK summer we’ve seen. My only concern is that it makes the company look like a holiday charter line.
RE: Who is launch customer for the A380
>It really is an ugly duckling, don’t you think?
They said that about the 747 when it first appeared, not to mention the Stratocruiser! All classics now I think you’ll agree.
RE: What is your favourite ‘Holiday Airport’ ?
It’s not just the airport that smell’s of sh*t. The whole town does as well. I overnighted there a couple of times and managed to offend the Catalan population by ordering ny food/drinks etc in Castillian Spanish. Almost as offensive I gather as a tourist landing in Scotland and saying “It sure is pretty here in England” ! (lol)
RE: Kansai Airport Is Sinking
I’m sure I watched a docu on this a few years ago on TV. Didn’t they always know the place would sink owing to the way it was constructed on an artificial island ? They have huge hydraulic jacks underneath the foundations as well don’t they? with a computer controlled monitoring system that constantly tells the jacks when and where to jack up the airport.
It all seemed very clever at the time, just goes to show you can’t always out engineer Mother Nature!
RE: aircrash!
Once when on approach to Stornoway in a BA ATP, we were almost on the ground when I looked out of the window to see all of the airport’s fire tenders rushing out to meet us at great speed. Thinking “Oh Sh*t, no undercarriage” or something worse. I was later somewhat bemused to discover the fire brigade had decided to give a party of local schoolchildren a rescue demonstration as “the big plane” came into land!
Twas a true brown trousers moment!
RE: Pic Of The Day-Beautiful Airport!
It looks like it’s been tended by a greenkeeper. Is there a golfing link to this little airstrip? A Playboy’s paradise perhaps ?
RE: Im going flying this evening
I’ve never been on one of those but see them overhead all the time. They look as if they really hurtle along. Do you get that impression on board ?
RE: Why do I always have to check in idiot customers at check in
Best idiots I saw where waiting to board a Glasgow/Amsterdam Easyjet flight recently. It was leaving shortly after the Easy flight to Luton and both planes were parked beside each other.
When the Luton passengers were called, this pair of shell suited wide boys saw the queue and decided to join it. When they handed over their boarding cards, it was pointed out that their flight hadn’t been called yet. They went back to the end of the queue which was by now the front of the Amsterdam queue, got through boarding and headed straight for the nearest Easyjet (the Luton plane) which was just about full.
How I laughed as it taxied away taking them off for a neds weekend in North London.
RE: What a fortnight for the
Air Atlantique to move into low cost airline market ?
I wonder if they’ll be using their DC-3’s and Electras ???
Please Please Please !!!!!!!!!
RE: Discovery Wings channel on TV
Hmmm… sounds like I’ve seen most of these shows already on Discovery Channel proper. Oh well I live in hope of exciting new plane shows.
RE: Laser apparatus on airliners
I guess that was my query as well. Why the complete ban on some planes and a partial ban on others? I flew on an Airtours A330 with a take off and landing ban on usage, whereas on the same plane with Aer Lingus there was a total ban.
