He’s mentioned wanting to get the Mossie back in the air before.
I seem to recall he was working on getting his Spit XVI back in the air soon. There is a video clip of the engine running on YouTube.
He is planning to send the mossie to the guy who is restoring his Lockheed vega – it may be sooner than you think!
Has the P40C had any engine runs as yet??
Great shots, as usually!
They always make my day brighter!
Thanks to everybody involved! :applause:
The picture of the 2 mark 1 spits is so good. The colours look spot on and could be an airfield on a murky morning in 1940.
What’s the score on the Comanche spits? They off stateside to or will they play a part in the celebrations this summer?
nice to see Sally B sneeking back through the murk in the 1st picture
Any update on Sally B at Northolt?? Nothing major I hope?
I was told by a work colleague that a ‘German’ (ie had crosses on the wings) plane was seen on a low loader going through Southampton yesterday. Anyone have any ideas as to what it could be ?
Gez
Most likely the He111 which has been with ARCO at Duxford – left Duxford yesterday morning
last I heard G-ROBT was waiting for some wings – I’m not even sure that was continuing on it to be honest??
Would be nice to see it fly this year.
On another note, what has happened to the silver Thruxton hurri, and it’s sister ship which was originally destined for Finland? Were both sold to the German doctor??
im awaiting a post asking if Miss Velma will be ready for Legends!! ???
Nice work DCW!
is the yak 3 that was damaged in the landing incident a few years ago still there?
If so – is it being repaired??
Yes. It still has the German registration (D-EPRN) on the rear fuselage in the YouTube clip.
Didn’t it have a wheels-up landing or some such?
I believe that’s when it was in Germany and was then subsequently rebuilt at Dijon Darois???
Certainly don’t remember it doing any shows last year?
How’s the air fighter academy 109G coming along? I’m assuming this isn’t far behind?
was certainly a great day at Duxford yesterday – very spoilt to get the numerous sharky displays, a wonderfully controlled EP120 display from Carl Schofield and finally the powerful and sublime Yak 3 display from Will Greenwood.
Was also lovely to meet Brian – aka the godfather of the Duxford mafia!!!???
In all seriousness – its great to meet one of the key contributors to this thread alongside DCW and Duxman – it’s the first thing I look at on the train at 5am and makes the long often painful commute on the district line somewhat more interesting.
Also worth noting a Duxford debut yesterday – my son Rafes first Duxford visit at the age of 15 months – I don’t know who enjoyed the playground Lancaster more – me or him.
nice to see the TFC guys churning them out nice and early this year!!
I wonder if there is a surprise or two up their sleeve for the coming season?
Also – are the 2 Friedkin owned spitfire 1s being operated by TFC this year??
I remember seeing pics of this when it was at audley end when it was nearly ready to go.
Wasn’t there issues with the fuselage that meant it had to be completely stripped out?
