pictures, give me pictures!!!
fantastic news, and a big well done to all involved. Pete Kynsey is certainly a busy man at the moment, especially as he will be likely to test fly the tfc birds.
does anyone know if its serviceable for the airshow season. sure would like to see 3 mitchells in formation!
its certainly a lovely setting for an airshow, and the pub next door is certainly nice as well!! its a damn shame that it only happened for two years. i’m sure that cost, as well as the disbanding of intrepid aviation did contribute to it.
hopefully the owner of the farm will read this and…….
wishful thinking again!!!
i don’t know if anyone has noticed but on one of the hangars it reads ‘THURROCK’ from the air. i know if i was flying in and i saw that, it would be full throttle and 180 degree turn and out of there!!! and i admit it, i live there!! luckily the chavs have yet to figure out how to hot wire a plane yet!!
anyway, getting back to the point, its a shame that orsett never really became a permanent fixture in the airshow calender, but thanks for the input chaps.
i would imagine kermit will get to it whenever the time and money becomes available. i nknow he has a few projects on the go, namely a couple of spits being restored for him in wycombe i think. Does anybody know if he will eventually restore it to flyable again, bearing in mind he cannot store it in florida?
would be nice to see the hurri came back to blighty. what other aircraft are in their collection?
its always at legends…..just sitting in bits in one or several of the workshops!!!
from what i gather, it will be an effort of epic proportions to get it to flying for legends 2007. would be nice though. 🙁
are the shack and victor going into airspace? they are starting to look a bit knackered!!!
apparently he’s been working on it since the 1980’s. can’t wait to see it though!!!
i agree with everyone regarding the mistakes that were made by the beeb, but at the end of the day, they were the only news corperation who bothered to do a largeish programme on it. to give an example, the mirror (yes i read the mirror – but only when i’m at work and i can’t find the star!!) had one picture of mr henshaw and a very brief description of the events. At least they bothered, and i for one are glad, as its always a privelidge to see five of those wonderful machines in the air, whether it be at duxford every year or on any telly channel.
what other spits both in the uk and abroad can we expect to see flying this year? i know the arco mkix has just flown, we should have a new mxviii with the tfc, and although its a seafire, the tim manna example. any others?
thats wicked news. any idea if the p40b will be here by the summer? and has anyone got any ideas of the paintschemes we can expect on the 6 flyers we will see? 😀
Daz, what sort of paintscheme would you like to see on that spit xviii?
d’oh!!!! 🙁
oh dear, i fear a backlash again!!!
whatever happens, i’m sure the aviation community will benefit whether it be stateside or over here. it is a shame the hurri is moving on, but from previous legends airshows i know its has had the old gremlins strike it, but it sure looks pretty. who knows, perhaps the tfc secretly have another hurricane waiting to be restored whenever the time and budget can be found to do so. but i would don’t want to speculate, its my wishful thinking!!!!
does anybody know if the hurri will stay for the airshow season, or is it off pretty soon? And any sign of a large crate with either P40B, P47G, SPITFIRE MK XVIII OR TF-51 been sighted in any ports around the country. i’m sure you will all agree, we are in for one hell of a summer.
Has anyone got any further news on the blenheim at all? it seems as though arco haven’t updated their site in about five years!!! whatever happened to their lysander as well? is that also under maintenance?
cheers
any more updates on ‘grumpy’? its gone a wee bit quiet lately. am i right in assuming its still in a hangar at the weald, and not in a crate in the middle of the pond?
