    RE: Model aircraft.

    Stringbag,
Are you also known as FRADU?
You can get conversion kits for various marks of Hunter. They are usually in resin, i haven’t bothered going that far yet, i just take the nearest standard Corgi to what i require. If you search around they now average £10. If you are lucky as i was once then you can get them for £5.
The one i’m currently working on myself is the Swiss J-4013. Camo with dayglo orange edges to the wings and fuselage.
    I wish Corgi did a T-7.
I don’t know how true it is but a Gnat is apparently on the cards for next year.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-08-02 AT 07:41 PM (GMT)]My father and i collect diecast aeroplanes, we have almost every Dinky aircraft produced, 95% of them in mint and boxed condition. We also have Aeromini’s which were a series of airliners originaly produced in the 1970’s, but there are some re-releases in new colours always coming out.
My main collection is Hawker Hunters, i currently have 15 corgi Hunters of which seven are professionaly repainted into various colour schemes, mainly from the Swiss Air Force, but Miss Demeanour is not far behind. I also have various 1/200 scale aeroplanes, Hunters included.
We used to collect every kind of model aircraft plastics kits included, but our house is not big enough so the plastic ones had to go.

I’m afraid if my numbers come up then i’d be sending cash to Cal-Pacific Airmotive for one of their highly polished P-51D Mustangs with the original MOOSE markings on it.

    RE: Thanks again!!

The Lysander was sitting on a crate in the hanger when i visited. I overheard a guide telling people it had been with Kermit for years and was damaged in hurricane andrew. He wasn’t very impressed when i corrected him and told me i was mistaken, i had a magazine in the car which happened to have a photo in it of the Lysander flying at Duxford, i showed it to him and he still said i was wrong and just because the one in the photo wore the same markings it doesn’t mean it’s the same one. I left it there.

RE: Thanks — and another quick one??

I was there in April and the B-24 was O.K. It did not appear damaged but was a bit weary. The B-26 amazed me as it was supposedly just made airworthy but had rust all over it.

    RE: Supermarine Swift

If you go to Jonathon’s website there is a link to it. http://www.heritageaviation.com
There are a few photo’s of it in service and in storage. When i went to Jet Heritage, i was told that fuselage was ready for final fitting and they were waiting for the wings to be returned from being x-rayed as there was no point carrying on if they were to fail.

    RE: Florida update

When i was out there last year i had a 70 minute trip in the Warbirds Adventures T-6, it was probably the best flight i have had. It is worth going to Florida just to do that. After my trip i went round to Stallion 51 and there were 11 P-51’s there, 9 of them polished to an amazingly high standard. Slurp, sorry i’m drooling again. Cray Horse and Mad Max were both up and i got to see both take off and come home. When i went to Fantasy of Flight, the B-24 was outside with the B-26 and Sunderland, i went inside the Sunderland to find the interior in a disgusting state, the carpets and seats all ripped open. The only downside to my trip was my camera packing up on the way to Kissimee, but the video i got from my T-6 flight is unbelievable, i now have it transferred to DVD so i can watch it without wearing the tape away.

    RE: Supermarine Swift

As far as i have been able to find out the Swift is such a complex aeroplane that the CAA would never allow it to fly. I had always read that it was a troublesome aeroplane and quite difficult to fly. Then in a conversation with Ray Hanna and he said he found it a much nicer aeroplane to fly than the Hunter, especially low down.

    RE: Ashley’s Airshow Report

There is nothing stopping you removing the windbreakers. chairs or whatever else is there.
It’s the same as when people put cones and other blockades in the road, i had one down my street and they called the police after i had removed it only to be told it is illegle to place these barracades in the road.
So if you want to move these pains then move because nothing can be done about.

    RE: Duxford, May 5th

The only thing worth seeing were the Breitling Fighters.
The rest of the show was like last years September show, which was a load of rubbish.
I have been going to Duxford shows for 20 years and the above mentioned shows were by far the worst.

    RE: P-51D

TFC’s new P-51D is the 1st picture with the yellow nose.
The 2nd picture is a scheme worn by the Scandinavian Historic Flight’s P-51D although for only 1 season if memory serves me right.
It’s a shame as this was a nice very different scheme to see.
Heres hoping for the return of the MOOSE.

Thanks everyone for the John Bradshaw photo’s, they’re great.
Anymore angles would be appreciated, also any shots of Spencer Flacks G-FURY?
I have a couple when the white and blue stripe ended at the exhaust stack, but i have one when the stripe run to the nose and she also looks like there were the infamous Frank Sanders smoke canisters under the wingtips. Some of photo’s of this scheme would be much appreciated.

RE: Is the F86 to fly this year?

If you go to http://www.avi8.com this question was raised and answered by Mark Linney who flies for OFMC and also flew this baby.
You can post the topic and see if he can give further assistance, he’s also the webmaster for this website.

The last i heard everything was ready, new engine, hydrolics and the like, all they were trying to get were 3 new batteries which cost about £1500 each.
