Cosford used to hold open cockpit days at least twice a year, usually during kids half term, the last one that I went to we got into the Lincoln and York, but I believe I heard someware that because the lumnesent paint used on old aircraft instruments was reported to be radio active the HSE had a dicky fit and banned or advised a ban on public access.

I should think that the most important airframe to come inside should be the Mark 1 Comet. When you think how long she has sat in the same place it may be a problem moving her. If she is earmarked to come indoors I should think that a refurbishment by the Beetham restoration facility would be a must.

Will people stop posting photos of it, it’s a complete joke. Even the colour scheme is awful, what is that putrid green all about? A very bad end to a promising project, its
hardlya fitting tribute to this British piston rocket ship!

Roundels on TA805 look ok to me. I don’t think it’s nit picking to pull up operators on matters of authenticity, the OFMC should be ashamed of the roundels on MH434. The contractors who did the the major on the BBMF’s P7350 cocked up the roundels a few years ago but the BBMF have taken steps to put things right. In an age where school children don’t know when the Battle of Britain was fought we need to get it right to educate future generations and to honour that generation that gave so much.
