Yes, the AC Dash 8 had been at Paris.
It was built in 1992 and delivered to JAL Cargo as JA8902 – delivered to Atlas Air as N344NA on 21-1-2011 – they re-reg’ed it in May this year.
It seems just the blue has been removed from the belly – I wonder if this is a sign of things to come with Icelandair… another dull euro-white scheme! 🙁
The aircraft in question was 15 years old (N632SW). As a result of this incident they have grounded 81 aircraft, for inspection.
This is not the first time this has happened on a Southwest flight either – it happened once before on a flight in 2009 on a 737-300 (Nashville-Baltimore service).
The olympic aircraft is actually going on lease to Aegean, along with 5 other planes.
Nice shots Peter,
Nice to CS-TNS – flew that back from Madeira last Sunday. Looks like you had some luck with the weather in Geneva at least. 🙂
Finnair have launched this today and the aircraft has now had the “f” taken off of the winglets and the engine covers… so even more bland!
I have seen that there are 4 x BA 747’s in Athens, and one in Glasgow (G-CIVT).
Alot diverted to CGN too – Air India 773, Cathay 744, Azerbaijan A319 and Korean Cargo 744.
Munich got a few too – Royal Brunei 777 and various BA bits.
Its parked near to where they used to have the Trident parked up. I saw it last weekend when I was in the area. You might be able to get a snap if you do a bit of hunting about for a decent spot – but unlikely – your more able to get a shot of Concorde at present.
Part 2…

More if wanted 🙂
Nice to see Bmi have at last updated that Star A320!
I got to see it first hand on a 757 last week when I was in Orlando (got some shots of it), but I can’t say I like it. The CO design is sleek and well known, true… but very dull. The UA livery is so much better. So its a shame that something creative couldn’t be done with that instead. I do realise though, that it was probably down to cost at the end of the day, and the what they have done was obviously the cheaper option.
Heading to Vienna this afternoon too.
Some lovely shots from LHR matey – Makes me wanna get back up there again! And hopefully I am next Saturday. Quite excited to hear of this retro livery too – Due for roll out today! (3rd)
Its to be based at Liverpool so I have heard.
