Very ironic. As a modern country Australia was founded by descendants of criminals from Britain, and now the Australian government decides to deport this British chap simply because he failed a character test. The Australian government is a joke!

This forum is full of people that compare/discuss/photograph wonderful military aeroplanes and ships etc. and most cannot wait to see next years airshows. The very purpose of these platforms is to wipe out enemy equipment and people in the most efficient way possible. More bang for the buck. Is it correct to admire such outstanding technology and then complain when it kills the enemy?

BTW, Bush and Blair were a better pair than the present pathetic and cowardly idiots. However, they are all bad.

Strong point right there. I like to admire outstanding military technology, and I have no problem when it kills the enemy for the right reasons. However, I will complain when my country’s military forces is engaged in a war, with no clear objective, and without clear justifications. For me, that is what Afghanistan is all about; there is no clear objective and no exit strategy.

More ignorant extremism here – so now we have Bush as a Christian facsist being blamed for problems which preceded his Presidency by a long way.

I’m not trying to blame Bush for the current problems, but trying to make a link between all the problems and the Islamic world alone is simply not fair. And from my perspective, attempts to bash the Islamic religion and its followers are simply arrogant, ignorant and disrespectful.

Why are we there ? ( keep it nice and on topic)

    Long time no chat, Anna.

The last I checked, NATO and other Western military forces are still in Afghanistan to help that country establish a stable democracy and keep away the Taliban. Eight years on Western governments are clearly tired of the war, but they have too much pride to pull out. Personally, I hope the Australian government quit the war, because it simply ain’t worth it.

I fully realize that many people here think I’m an ignorant, racist, stereotypical arrogant American, but I’m just trying to figure out how people in Europe feel about this particular issue. Obviously I am not able to get all the facts because I don’t live in Europe, but from my perspective it seems like a rather scary change is occuring in Europe, and I’m afraid that the rather liberal nature of many nations in Europe won’t do much to stop what would appear to be a real problem. I could be wrong, but it’s just how I see it from my perspective.

Instead of trying to link the Islamic religion and its followers to the problems in Europe, you should be asking what Christian fascists (like your former President Bush) had done to his world to provoke so much hatred. Obviously I don’t expect you to do that, because I strongly believe you lack both the guts and the intelligence to do so.

A very odd statement Comet, considering English Common law can find its roots in ancient Islamic law.

If the west’s financial institutions was run according to Sharia law, then the present so called Credit Crunch would not have been able to happen.

It’s nice that someone have the guts to acknowledge the facts once in a while, so I like what you’re saying here mate. Islam as a civilization had made great contributions to humanity, but many people are too full of hatred to read between the lines during the post-9/11 era. But nonetheless, I do agree with Comet on his statement, the minority of people who hates their adopted country should pack up and leave.
