Oh…I’ve just heard that Somalia and Kenya felt it as well, and some Somali fisherman is missing.
You don’t need to look at 21st Century wafare to realise that attack helicopters is vulnerable to MANPADS, AAAs or SHORADS, the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan during the 80’s demonstrated this. So if I have to chose, I would defintely go for multirole fighters but not attack choppers.

I can’t see NZ spending the money on a new comabt aircraft. They don’t seem to be under threat by anyone, the chance of invasion is slim at best, and if there was a real problem the U.S., UN, or Australia would come to the rescue.
True, I don’t see how New Zealand should waste its money on something that its not going to use, I mean, the country lie thousands of miles away from other countries so I doubt that some one would even bother invade NZ.
I heard the death toll has reached 27,000… so sad….

You think the Russian’s are the only ones who know how to extend the airframe life of a MiG-21? Give me a break! Srbin, your bias is getting somewhat out of hand, and it’s only getting worse as the days go by.
Off course the Russians ain’t the only ones who could upgrade MiG-21s, but sometimes it has more to do with the diplomatic relations, it depends on the relations that one nation may have with the other, so you can’t always be choosy. Oh…and the cost involve is also a factor.
the_baphomet_00, awesome images bro!
Hamburger and plawolf,
I don’t want to create more of these arguments but in some way there are similarities if you look on the surface, like the Sukhois and missile systems that China and Vietnam purchased. But there are more deals which were done behind closed doors.
For example, the Ukraine agreed to deliver radar systems and R-27 missiles to Vietnam, did China got it’s missiles from the same source? NO

still waiting for you to mention the Sovremenny purchase
And while the Chinese is buying the Sovremenny destroyers, Vietnam is ordering new missile boats and looking at some guided-missile frigates. Now you can’t say theres a link in that?
As for other projects, South Korea is upgrading Vietnam’s fleet of M-113 APCs, and India is doing the same thing for MiG-21s. So is vietnam copying China in anyway?
From the first look I new those boats were of Soviet-origin…nice pics…
Some machines of the dead Iraqi air force….
TJ and Arthur, thanks for the info on RAF Pucaras.

It was a stupid decision too because they could not agree on the share, the French wanted most of the work and others told them to **** off
Yeah, its no one’s fault the French are a bunch of arrogant idiots.
i find the idea stupid…but i can’t resist laughing at it that picture.
If you look on the fifth page of the ‘small airforce pics’ thread you will find two pictures of upgraded Belarussian MiG-29BM, posted my me.
