The Vietnamese air force have 7 Su-27SK and 5 Su-27UBs, from what I heard they have plans to upgrade these jets when funds are availble.

The Su-30 deal was signed only a few months after the VPAF celebrated its 40th year since creation, so I guess the Sukhois is pretty much like a present for the air force and maybe 12-24 more in the near future.

besides, its not the first time vietnam has chosen the same ac type close on the heals of china.

guess they are no longer considering china as a major threat.

Threat or no threat they only buy it for the sake of defence, why does people have to bring China into everything that involves Vietnam?

can’t wait for pics! I wonder if they’ll continue to use the same camouflage as the Russians. So I’m assuming this variant is the one we saw in Maks 2003?

I think maybe at the request of the Vietnamese government, the Russians are holding back on the pictures from the media, but I hope that I am wrong and someone might have it.

I say they should go for something like the YAK-130 or Su-25 because it could take on the role of interdiction, thus would help their ground troops alot.
