Canpark: mate I don’t know how you do it, but thanks for doing it, Vietnam is actually undergoing a modernisation program for their small fleet, they are looking at gaining a green water capability with a couple of Corvettes to travel down to the disputed Spratley’s.
That’s true. VietNam recently purchased six Gepard frigates from Russia to expand the surface fleet, VietNamese shipyards continue to roll out VietNam-designed transport ships, landing crafts, refurbishing LST and LSM and equip them with combat systems such as rockets to support Marine units and their PT-76 and BTR-60s. Despite the fact that the VietNam People’s Navy has only been around for about 56 years the tradition actually goes back hundreds of years back to the year 1288 when our ancestors defeat the Mongols at the sea battle of Bach Dang. The struggle to maintain Truong Sa (Spratlys) Islands is our right and we will win.
