RE: Which airshow performer do you miss the most.
Gary Numan was at North Weald the other week, with his black Harvard. He didn’t display but did do a fairly energetic circuit 🙂
RE: Ludham
Norwich Library is now contained in the big new glass Forum building in the centre of town. It contains an 8th AF memorial wing, which has loads of stuff in dedicated to the local squadrons. There is an audio visual terminal at which you can watch videos, plenty of periodicals, banners, flags and models around the edge of the room of every formation B-24 in all their glorious lairy colour schemes. If you’re in town it’s worth popping in.
As for the airport museum, personally I very much enjoyed it. Maybe it depends what kinds of aircraft flick your switch. The building there is a museum dedicated to the RAF No.100 Group (not USAF this time!) and the aircraft surround the building. Their web site is here: http://www.cnam.co.uk/
Hope this helps.
RE: What Do You Eat And Drink At Airshows?
Hmm, airshow food.
Moroccan chicken salad, Italian pasta salad, sundried tomato and olive bread, game pie, picnic pie, potato salad, tomato basil & red onion salad, tunisian tuna salad, crisps and two bottles of champagne; as a picnic on the grass at Shuttleworth.
OK, so it was my 30th 😉
RE: Duxford projects current status
LOL at the bird strike! I missed that, which aircraft is it on?
RE: Duxford projects current status
It’s in Hangar 5 as well:

RE: Duxford projects current status
Hello Ashley 🙂 I kept my eyes out for any ladies with dusters in their hands but did not see anyone!
Psst, you might consider turning your polishing brush to the Lancaster’s wing… have a mosey up onto the balcony in Hangar 1 and you’ll see what I mean…
RE: Duxford projects current status
Sorry, no. I have yet to make it into the cockpits of either of those types. Should that change, pictures will be posted…
RE: Digital photography question

>As a rule of thumb take large pictures to display on a PC

I have to dispute this, I’m afraid.
If you want to print a 6×4 inch image at 300 dpi, you will need an image of 1800×1200 pixels in size. An A4-sized image needs 3300×2400 pixels at the same resolution.
Your monitor screen is probably 1280×1024 at most, so for a desktop background you don’t need as high as resolution image, but for a decent print, you want as big an image as you can get!
Reducing the image size is generally OK, you won’t notice much, if any, loss in quality. However never enlarge an image – the computer can’t create detail from nowhere, and the end result is never good.
Hope this helps.
RE: Hendon B-17

I’ve just had a look on their site, but they don’t seem to have anything online. Thanks for the suggestion though.

S’funny, I’m pretty sure mine came out pink!
Thanks for that lovely detail shot of the black Lanc in the coal cellar, covered in black cats… 😉
I had a black cat in my car earlier. Took me ten whole minutes to evict him. He was comfortable, and going Nowhere. Cats!
RE: Duxford September and October Airshows
Nice reports!
I would dispute the comment in the Autumn show report, though, about the Anson being the only airworthy one. There’s another one at Shuttleworth, owned by BAe, that is airworthy.
RE: Filmscanner
I have the Nikon one and am very happy with it. Best bit of kit in the house, so it is!
It was close between the Canon and Nikon when I was choosing, the Nikon got it as it scans more quickly.
No idea about the Polaroid one though…

Check your messages 🙂
RE: Stearmans, and lots of ’em!
Thanks guys 🙂
Here’s a couple of Janie taxying in. I don’t have any of her parking, but I do have some of her starting up again.
As for the Harvard, if memory serves it was the light blue one, in the B-17 colours? I was very lax and failed to get any pictures of her on that day, however I do have more of her elsewhere. Let me know if you want more of those.
If you’d like bigger, printable versions of these, again, let me know, although the first one is a bit motion-blurry, to be honest.
