Love that Tornado shot! Full of speed!
Looks glorious…. it’s rare to see such intense green on airborne photos; the weather must have been fantastic!
I distinctly remember a road in a local village in Gloucestershire being named after the resident doctor who was retiring, about 20 years ago now. He was very much still alive at the time.
I can’t tell you how nice it was to see some sunlit aircraft at Rougham!
Here’s an odd picture I took with my phone – bendy props 😮
More to come once I’ve scanned eleven rolls of film (digital users – feel smug now :p )
Well, as a contributor to TP I’m always going to be accused of being biased. However as a non-pilot, I find TP far more accessible as a general read than the other magazines. I find the others either very dry or as previously said, a bit ‘closed door’ for the non-flyer. If GA wants to encourage people to take up flying, it’s not going to happen if people can’t understand a single article! TP addresses this well IMHO by having some articles geared towards those who fly and know what’s going on (eg Density Altitude in this month’s edition) and more general interest articles about real people who fly.
Oh no, that is awful news. I am one of those who reads a lot more than I post on here, and Steve’s posts were always great. I never met him, but the way he spoke of his love of and joy in his son, and the sharing of his passion in aviation was wonderful. I am so sorry for his family.
Pitts owners have fluffy dice too, only these wave about in the breeze 🙂

Get out of bed earlier. Hope that helps.

Well I wasn’t all that tardy out of bed, but we were in Cheltenham and had to pay a visit to some family on the way over…
Anyone feels like heading over to Rougham next weekend, please do so! It’s near Old Buckenham if you fancy doing both 😉
Just back from North Weald. Lots of gaps where things had obviously left, but some interesting stuff remaining too. Gawd it’s HOT!!! Hello to Melvyn Hiscock who decided to taxi out just when I was inside the Squadron to grab a drink, about 0.005s after I arrived! Got a tiny pic of you taking off. There was a nice Gnat – resident I guess – that came out later on; hadn’t seen it before. The jet blast as it taxied was, amazingly, even hotter than the ambient air. As I type, the Aerostars are probably displaying, but I confess the thought of a cold beer enticed us away long before… Did I mention it’s hot? 😮
I’ll be there hopefully after lunch on Sunday. Save some aircraft for me!
Very sad news. I hope he enjoyed his creation’s 60th anniversary as much as we all did – he sure deserved to!
Here’s one! 😀

Here’s a couple of others too:

I should add that these pics were taken for Today’s Pilot and are being posted here with their permission – and may also appear in forthcoming issues 🙂
I had two poppadums, does that count? 😉
I second all the comments above – I had a great time; thanks to all involved! Pics to follow…
Thanks chaps, on reflection after your comments I think it was the Doll that I saw. The nose didn’t look any darker at the time but the tail is right. I did wonder if it might have been part of the Madingley goings on – weren’t there some some F-15s and things as well?
Cheers 🙂
