I was at Leicester yesterday with a bunch of Pitts pilots, and I noticed a lot of them were wearing lightweight, thin, casual shoes that looked a lot like driving or sailing boots. They looked comfortable to me, and like they would give plenty of ‘feel’.
Socialising?! Only at the party, Steve; only at the party! :diablo:
Here’s one 🙂 More yet to be scanned!

Oh yes! I’ll be there 🙂
210 quid for a personalised plate? Beats the heck out of the DVLA! 😉 I believe, however, you can only reserve CAA registrations about six months in advance of your aircraft being ready to have one assigned to it. Could be wrong (usually am…)
I’ll be working in the Flypast/Friends of Duxford enclosure on Sunday.
OK, it’s been a few more days than I anticipated but I finally have all the pictures online 🙂
The full list exists on my website (click here) – in the meantime, here’s a couple of tasty treats:

Yak11Fan, Rougham delights include the Turbulent team, Dennis Kenyon in his helicopter and two other acts, however the other two escape me right now, sorry! I know four acts have been booked though…
Book one lesson per week. The realities of British weather will see you actually flying closer to once a month 😉
Anyone in the area for Old Buck might like to take in Rougham at the same time – it is the Wings, Wheels & Steam country fair and fly-in this weekend, with a small 1hr ‘barnstorming’ air show on Sunday. You’d all be most welcome.
Well, if anyone needs a willing victim for some passenger practise, just call me up 😀
I heard about that new strip near BSE the other day too. Sounds most interesting…!
I think this whole SpaceShipOne thing (and the X-Prize, for that matter) is fantastic. At a time when NASA is strangled by politics and Russia by cashflow, it needs the likes of Mr Rutan and co to inject some excitement into the space industry. For the first time there is hope that the ordinary person can (for a suitably large amount of dosh) fly into space. Hey, maybe Scaled will offer online ordering of space trips in the next couple of years… that’d be some waiting list 😉
Well, if I may add my flights to this list, although none (bar one) are in museums:
Stearman (x3!)
Chipmunk
Tiger Moth (for 5 happy minutes)
Dragon Rapide
HAL Pushpak
Aeronca Champion
T-6 Texan
B-17 ‘Thunderbird’ (this one belongs to a museum)
It certainly was a fantastic 24 hours, that’s for sure! The 2.5 hour drive was well worth it. Camping under a wing is wonderful, the party was quite an experience – aided by the excellent band and where do certain people find all that beer? 😉
As for the aircraft, they arrived thick and fast all morning. The sky was filled with them in all directions… here’s a few pics to illustrate Steve’s comments. Plenty more to come when I’ve scanned ’em…

Not sure I’ve seen so many microlights in one place before. Here’s a mere fraction:
And this glorious beastie!
And some of those American classics… 😀
Thanks to Steve and the rest of the Key guys for organising it in the first place!
