True, admin please move to the naval section.

Anyway, the answer to your question is two things: sonar, that is listening to the target’s noise which can carry for miles in water if the circumstances are right . The other way is for the sub!arine to rely on offboard sensors such as another submarine or a marine patrol aircraft.

Mooie platen Gerard, hartelijk dank ervoor!

    Nice pix G, many thx!

I was having truck driving lessons yesterday where I drove into the little border village of Groesbeek. Just as I was in the middle of a complicated maneouvre I heard a jet overhead. My instructor, who also has an eye for jets went ape****. I knew he’d chew my posterior if I’d stop and lean out the window to look bit my lip and finished the maneouvre. And thats my story of how I heard, but did not see the first appearance of the JSF over my area. lol.

It sounds nice cruising, like an F16 but lower, more throaty. Like a darker sound.

Well, I for one do believe the 50degree AOA claim, and its tactical significance in a 1v1 situation. You do win first shot with that. But you shed a LOT of energy doing that as well.So in a manyVmany situation, you do not want to make those high-AOA turns on the merge, you unload that baby to zoom out of the furball as quick as you can.

Of course I only ever flew a Cessna irl, the rest of it is conjecture from the simulator and reading.

So what I take away from this is that the 35 is not a sustained turner like the viper. It’s a boom n zoomer, more like the zipper from the 60s. I am quite happy to read its not entirely useless as a fighter. It would be horrible if so many billions were wasted on a bad machine.

Perhaps this report and the earlier leaked one disagree so much because the flight control program and flight restrictions on the 35 have evolved quite a bit in the time between them?

You could paint it in a boring USAF scheme and it would still be a poem of alloys and composites.

People doesnt seem to care about actual info, so i stopped. Can’t be bothered.

Without the fuel your real life data provides, the debate would die out. It would bring peace, but the peace of the desert. is that what we want?

Please keep posting m8, and just ignore those whose reactions displease you.

Apparently flying the A400 has resumed. Does this mean the plane has been cleared safe? Guess it was bad luck then. In the 50s being a test pilot was the single most dangerous thing a man could do and still they lined up for it…..

That don’t look like Mali to me, more like the uiterwaarden van de waal lol. The hook looks properly beat tho. That most definately is not some sort of airshow display piece but serious army equipment.

    He got zapped lol!

Mind telling us the story of that one Gerard? Cant be but a juicy one. For the non-dutch readers, the plane is full of names and insults such as the word “gebakje” (sweet cake) with an arrow pointing to the pilot.
