Sorry I feel that there has been a misunderstanding. I never said that the Kittyhawk had a jet engine, I’m interested in the desert campaigns that took place in the air because few people talk about and that is why I like the plane. And if you re-read the previous posts you will see that I never said that the Kittyhawk was British, I said that I generally prefer to research British planes because I am proud of what this country used to be able to do!

I felt that I had to mention that the British made the first jet engine because I felt that Flood was demening british engineering. The terrible story is that the Germans put their jet engines to quicker use in the war when they developed the Me 262.

I do like the Spitfire because of its gracefulness in the sky but it ain’t my favourite.

Any plane that I happened to mention you would probably find fault with, but you guys never told me what your favourite model was or Squadron.

I hope this will settle the water a little.:)

Don’t poke fun at British planes Flood, are you not patriotic.

It was a British man who invented the Jet engine, Frank Whittle, Remember. It was the stupid buearocrats of the time that stopped him from developing it earlier.
The jet engine was used on the Glouster Meteor.
Which country produces the best planes in your opinion Flood, don’t say America they take most of our ideas.

Actually I’m quite serious about historical planes and war veterans. I feel that more people today are forgetting the sacrifice that many people made in order to save our country.
I just wonder how many people would bother today ?

And Spitfire isn’t my favourite plane, mine is the Curtiss Kittyhawk (desert squadron.)
