Hmmm…. dont see any internal weapons carriage slots.
I’ve read other versions of that, & I can’t find any which quote Adm Verma as saying 65000 tons.
Yep, there has only been speculation that IAC2 will be 65000 tons. Dont think the design has not been frozen as yet, so no one can say what the size would be.
If it’s being designed now, & going to have EMALS, India should already be talking about it to the USA, sounding out whether it’s available & requesting technical information.
That has already been done. Read it in some news sometime back.
So that would make EMALS highly likely. Also, given that if EMALS are choosen then the F35C is the most likely candidate for the future IN fleet fighter.
^ As per some reports the heli landed due to bad weather conditions at the time. I doubt they had any chance at shooting it down. Those valleys are not easy to cover with anti-air assets.
Anyway, credit for returning the helo and crew so quickly.
Lots of aviation related talk here.
Bophuthatswana has nothing to do with Botswana.

Hi, just saw this… was wondering if there is any truth to this story.
As per the author, PAF shot down one of its own F-16’s during its encounter with the Soviets in Afghanistan.
What’s the point of putting Meteor on Jaguar ?
The MIG 29 UPG also has open architecture based on the MIL1553 bus ?

I was referring to the Scalp/Taurus, not Meteor for the Jaguar.
I dont see why US cant close the multiple bases they have overseas.
Closing down bases in Japan and Europe would end up saving US billions of dollars.
The MiGs, Jaguars and Tejas are unlikely to be compatible with either weapon and Meteor doesn’t make much sense for aircraft with modest radar performance. However the Su-30MKI would be a good platform to combine with the Meteor.
Tejas has an open architecture system, so a physically compatible weapon could be made compatible with the aircraft.
I think IAF jaguar’s also have open architecture MC. Not sure though.
throw in the Wapiti for the RAFM as part of the swop – in addition to any other possible reason for such an exchange – and the thought of a Mk I Hurri, presumably with an operational history for the BBMF, becomes appealing, even if it will take some time to bring the BBMF back up to its complement of 2 Hurris. Need to get TE finished……
Hi, what does “RAFM” stand for?
+1
People seem to forget that there was no “logical” reason for Japan to invade a host of countries in the 1930s and 40s either. Australia, for example, was more than happy to sell resources to Japan in the 1930s, but that didn’t stop them from invading Australian Territories (PNG) and bombing mainland Australia in possible preparation for an invasion.
Yep, so there would be no “logical” reason for the US to invade Australia either right? We dont need logic at all.
If there is no logic, then I can clearly see USA invading Australia. So why would Australia buy planes from a potential enemy?
Hey, maybe UK will invade Australia, or maybe Somalia will invade and take-over Australia?
I am sure you can read some Carlo Kopp theories on how those invasions can happen.
welcome to the real world WITCHA, in which not everyone wants to hug and kiss and make nice…. fact of the matter is, Australia does have a threat in India and China… even Indonesia. Accept it. as we continue to overpopulate this world, and resources and space become more scarce, countries finances become worse and worse…. if a country runs out of money, doesnt mean it no longer needs to buy things… and if said country has a large military… things can/ and have happened…
and those aircraft would make a world of difference… in any defence of the country, it will not be sheer numbers that win the day…. training, determination and skill and quality of equipment will matter… as will tactics, and geography… we have alot of distance to trade for time…enough time for allies to come and assist….
OT/ So what makes you think current Australia allies will not want the same resources that are in Australia?
There are no permanent alliances.
PS: The countries whose finances are getting “worse and worse” are current Australian allies. India and China are booming.
/End OT
Anyway, i do not see AMCA being a viable choice for Australia or any other country as of now. Currently its in concept phase, so by that nature it is not even available for discussion with any country.
Also, going by past historical trends, I doubt it will see operational service before 2030. Australia needs something now – the best choice would have been the Eurofighter, but now Aus is stuck with an aircraft which promises certain capabilities which are far from reality.
First P8I Poseidon for India
Lol, sorry, i didnt see that earlier post.
