In the good old days an accident to a historic aircraft would have been opened as a new thread even if the news was a few days old. Glad the crew of B-25 “Old Glory” got out without serious injury but sad to see the substantial damage to the aircraft.
Nice sight and sound, Daz. Had hoped PL983 might pass over us on the way to Perth but she must’ve passed a bit more to the East. I’ll have to make do with the videos 🙂
A nice memorial. Very eye-catching!
The shape of it reminds me of the outer wing of the Stuka but I guess the dimensions (?) and structure aren’t right for that. Don’t know if they had a panel there though.
Nice photos, Daz. Scary that the millennium seems just yesterday!
I find coming on the forum, this last few days in particular, a bit like opening a favourite magazine and all those loose advertising leaflets flutter to the ground and curl and fly into the furthest corners of the room and you need to waste time and energy dealing with them before you can settle down to reading. I know I don’t physically have to expend any energy where the spam is concerned but it’s every bit as annoying.
I think they’re all at home on their laptops regularly earning $20,000+ dollars for 4 hours work. You can’t blame them really. After all, it’s much better than a 9 to 5 desk job. In fact, it’s quite awesome.
I think you’re making a safe assumption, AA. The forum has turned into a real mess. Bad enough if spammers open their own threads but to be allowed to hijack genuine threads and their posts to remain there for any length of time is shocking. It must be seriously off-putting to anybody newly considering joining an aviation forum.
Thanks for the confirmation, RadarArchive. That is sad news.
Sad times. Gosh, if Highland has closed that’s a 20% reduction in aviation museums in Scotland. Now that’s depressing!
That doesn’t sound good then. There weren’t that many left after the 2018 departures.
Hi Brandisi,
The Highland Aviation Museum at Inverness was still open towards the end of last year. Whether that is still the case I am not sure. They had down-sized a fair bit during 2018 – parting with several exhibits including the Valiant cockpit to the Morayvia collection. We visited a few years ago and found it a very interesting museum with informative and enthusiastic staff – it would be a real pity if it is closed.
Welcome “back” from me too. Good to know there are mods still around. Hopefully things will improve for us all soon!
What an absolute beast of a machine!
Got a wee typo there, Oracal. Pic taken at RAF Waddington
