Probably not yet. Did a bit of asking around and these pic is posted by someone who has connections with Chengdu. These pics are over 6 months old, and that is why he posted them.

So finally confirmation that J-10s in the operational unit! Planes 02 and 05 shown, and judging by the cammo, it could mean that the pic of 15 and 16 flying together in formation is from the same unit!

You are wrong. It is the other way around, rather Hongdu’s L-15 had received support (and probable funding) from PLAAF, FTC-2000 is an entirely private venture by Guizhou.

    1. Not until it is 100% indeginous I would think.
    2. PLAAF don’t want it, but due to internal pressure, probably going to get 100-150 or so stuffed down its throat, and I think that which they will ofload to PLANAF when they have the chance.

    4. FTC-2000 is classified as a LIFT. P.S. I don’t know how one can think a plane with side intakes, large radome can be called a Mig-21 look alike….

Not absurd at all… Also explains why the thunderbirds went to China twice in 4 years (1984, 1988), just to show off the abilities of F-16s…

No, it is not about the article. It is the photo. The AVIC article has nothing to do with J-10, bu in the photo J-10 is on show, and that is the art of chinese gradual de-classification.

Not to mention that taking photos outside and away from a military area or outside a confidential zone is permitted, but if you want to take photos of huludao, you will have to go through the QingDao Naval Defense Area (that already trespassing a military area), then try to enter a base/yard with Lvl 1 security rating… You will be lucky if you are not prosecuted as a spy…

Very interseting information here. Cobrato you might want to look at this. Seems that PLAAF Su’s also had problems with their AL-31Fs similar to the Indians. According to this info from an article from the official airforce news, a Sukhoi suffered a mid-flight engine fire with an engine with only 15 hours of flying on it. The plane landed safly, and massive cracking was located on the fan blade and compresser discs on the right engine, which is caused by manufacturing defect causing premature metal fatigue.

Well, with Flounder for JH-7 and a rumoured Flirter for J-10, I would not expect FC-1 to receive a more flattering name…

Err, the KJ-1 was never in service. It served in a research role only and was retired years ago. This is also not a HAS, but just the Datangshan Aviation Museum, where this plane is kept outdoors today.
