Well loudouzi on DS stated that the Su reg in Lanzhou is in the 6th Div. Considering that Lanzhou is thge lasr MR to receive Su’s, when some other MR already have two operational… it just is a general modernization program for the whole of PLAAF.

Good find by Xinhui off DS.
With this week’s CCTV report of a SU regiment reaching operational stage in Lanzhou MR, the total number of Su-27/30/J-11s in service should have reached 11 regiments with each MR having at least one operational regiment!!!

    Lanzhou MR: 1 regiment
    Chengdu MR: 1 regiment
    Nanjing MR: 2 regiments
    Guangzhou MR: 2 regiments
    Jinan MR: 1 regiment
PLAAF flight test center: 1 regiment
    PLANAF: 1 regiment
    Total: 11 regiments

Cobrato, can you confirm this? Because if this is true, then assuming a minimum of 20 Su’s per regiment, that would equate to more than 200, possibly 250+ Su’s of all type?

This is that Q-5 torpedo attack version that was never built apart from this prototype. It has a drooped nose so the forward view would be better. The idea was dropped when SSMs finially became avaliable to PLAAF/PLANAF, as torpedo attack is sortta… outdated…:D
In fact, this prototype actually have a wooden nose, Arthour, you didn’t tap the nose to check it out? I am surprised.:D

Well well, I expected these kind of answer from 12 yo school yard bullies caught in the act, not from a mature adult( if you are actually one that is, don’t seem so to me though by your actions.)
Free to say what one likes to? Please, do me a favor, walk to your local airport and declare that you have a bomb. Is that free to be said? You shame the very democracy and the idea of free speech by trying to use that to cover up your thoughtless comments.
And by the way, regarding your re-education camp comment, and I marvel at how cheap that shot and how ill-educated and out of touch with reality one must be to make that kind of comment. I did, however, enjoy it immensely as a joke, did you mean that one in Guantanamo Bay?:D

Just realized also: Not to mention that all PLAN SSK are name Chang Zhen XXX (Long March-XXX), and SSNs are Chang Cheng XXX (Great-Wall XXX), which are the boats real names.

Like I said, I think it is named by some US navy dude with a Chinese History book in his hand, and just flipped aroung to get the name they liked.

The sad thing about Q-5s is that it is now a plane without a future. No doubtly with more upgrades to its avionics and even engines, the plane would be more useful, bu since the 89 incident, wich caused many foerign avionics options to be no longer avialable, together with the passing away of the chief designer, who is the chief advocate of the continue modernization of this aircraft, most plans involved with Q-5 had been dropped.
On another note, 89 might had been unaviodable, but my eyes alway water at the thought of the PLA that whould of been today if it didnt happen… F-16, Mirage 2000C and Harriers… Leo2A4s…:( 🙁 🙁 But I am going off topic…

Well, vortex, I gave you the chance, but what you do? You continue with your insults. Coming from a country which had opium stuffed down its throat by a “great” power through two wars, I find your views extremely offensive. Perhaps you would like me to still call your piece of land the land of slaverey???

I said that I dont believe that LeeBryon should bring the sexual perversion stuff into this discussion, but what about you? why are you bringing such insults against another group of people?

I give you a final chance to remove your thoughtless remarks, as I dont like to insult other people, but if pushed to the limits, I WILL return the favor.

I suppose it will do it the same way Q-5s do it, lead plane illuminates target with pod, carrier plane drops the bomb…

It is true. When USN notiuced that PLAN was starting its first class of DDGs in Luda, China, the Class was named Luda Class. the Luhus were built in Shanghai, which is also known as “Hu” and hence named Luhu by USN, then a next class is named Luhai…. and so on.
Same for FFGs, the first class, JiangNan Class gun FFs were built in JiangNan SY, Shanghai, Hence JiangX… JiangHu, JiangWei etc…
The PLAN itself never calls their ships with these names, it is always the project name: 051H1 (which is Luda II), 052A (which is Luhu), 053H3(which is JiangWei III) etc…
I am not too sure about the SSN or SSK designations, but even when they are all dynastical names, they are not in order, so I think are also named by US… they would I prosume be called by PLAN as 033, 035, 039/039A, 091, 092, 093, 094 respecivly rather than Romeos, Mings, Songs, Hans, Xias, etc…

Well, naming fighters FARMER, FARGOT, FISHBED, FINBACK which is the name everyone knows them by, doesnt do wonders in improving their image compaired to names such as Raptor, Falcon, Phatom etc… And ****? Who on hell thought up this designation???:D
