Erez, look t what corbarto said again. If you want, you can also look for infomation on the net for J-9, which there are some. J-10 is a logical follow-up design to the cancelled J-9, which already has canards and delta wings.
Even if you only need to cahnge a small part of an existing design, major rework is already nessesary, not to mention the numerous design difference between Lavi and J-10. All they have in common is they are both single engined, delta wing fighters with canards and chin intake. Aerodynamically, the similarity ends there!

What the designer said is that they used the same way AIM-120 calculated its range. target and launch aircraft flying at each other at 1.2 mach and at 10000 metres. The range is 70 km under such circumstance.
Also interesting is the designer basically said the russians “cheated” with R-77, as they calculated the max range with target and launcher flying at each other at 1.5 mach and at 12000 metres altitude.

    Efective combat altitude 0-25Km.
Ability to engage target 10kms higher or lower than launch altitude.
Range at 1.2M, 10Km altitude at 1.2M target at same altitude =70Km.
No escape zone for F-16 type target = 35-45km
    Max overload=38G, Speed =4M
Plans to be also used as SAM system.

Designer was asked at end to rate BVR AAMs. He rated Meteor as best BVR AAM, then AIM-120C, then his SD-10, then AIM-120A/B, R-77, Skyflash at equal fourth, then Derby, and last of all, MICA.

Did that guy who introduced you to this “F-26” also tell you he is a anime, particularly hentai anime adduct? Or he wants to be a Japanese General?:D 😀 😀 Gustav Cevil-Dragon at it again i see…:p :p

Well, in the article, the hotshot knows that something is wrong with his plane afterward he pulled the 10G, but did not report it. (big mistake)
The ground crew chief was checking the plane for next flight, but realised that one wing is higher than the other, then the story came out upon detail examination and questioning the pilot…

Well, more details comming out. The people are saying the 3.16 accident is not a MKK, but a brand new MK2 just delievered to PLANAF…

The reason why CAC went down the Mig-21F route is because the PLAAF pilots abosolutely hated J-7III. It, according to them is sluggish and flys like a pig compared to the more agile J-7II.

Cobrato, the remain of the plane from 12/26 accident was quite close from the city itself, and more than 20 people confirmed that on two BBS… And the 3/16 accident is same. I think there is a newpaper article on it as well, and basically all the witnesses interviewed said the plane flew past the witnesses, then suddenly the engine sound pitched up, and cut out, followed by the crash. The article did not say it is a 30, but quite a few people I think that are quite reliable said it is a PLANAF Su-30 on FIRST FLIGHT…

A depressed Hydropod decided to dig through his collection of ancient Chinese magazines he had colloected, and find out htat if one looked hard enough, you bound to find out about some of the PLAAF losses, no matter how they are not release publicly… but some of them are quit stupid ways to lose a plane…

1.From a 93 Aerospace Knowledge on an article about the need of Physical and Mental toughness of pilots required.
Date/Location: unknown, Type: J-8II, Cause: Birdstrike on left engine. Outcome: airframe lost, pilot ejected. Comments: This one is an idiot. After birdstrike on port engine, he shut down starboard engine in panic. Then after stuffing up the in flight re-start procedure, he ejected at 6000 metres and when the plane is still controllable… grounded for life and dishonorable discharge…

    2. Same article: Type: J-6 Cause: Excessive strain on airframe. Outcome: Airframe written-off. Comments: The hotshot in an air combat training mission went over esusiastic, and pulled 10Gs in his J-6. Swisted the main wing spar and its a write-off…

    3. A further article from another 95 Aerospace Knowledge about pilot discipline: Type: J-7, Cause: Stupidity, Outcome: airframe lost, pilot ejected. Comments: Another hotshot, this one not so lucky. Tried to impress his trainer and training mates by attempting to fly under a power line. Misjudged height and clipped cable. Grounded. (Side note: guess not as lucky as the othe hotshot who pulled off the stunt and now is an adversary training officer in flight testing and training center…)

    4. Feature article on PLANAF pilots from a 98 Ordanace Knowledge. Type: JJ-6/ J-6, Cause: complete engine compressor failure leading to break-up of engine then airframe. Outcome: JJ-6 emergency landing, J-6 lost with crew. Comments. J-6 was lost 4 days before the JJ-6 incident. JJ-6 was lucky as the rear seat trainer is a 1500 hour veteran, so he shut down the engine in time and made emergency landing, but the compressor stage is still 4/5th the way ripped apart…

And there are tonnes of near-misses as well…

Well, the guys from Wuhan said that they were not suprised to hear of a crash, to them, it is bound to happen. Some went as far as to say that they see Su-30s in ones and twos pass by and make turns around a certain hill top at very low altitude (under 20 meters) at high speed daily, so I would believe that. But 3 lost in ayear is still a bit, not to mention the PLANAF copy was during the first flight by the unit after receiving the 30s.

There are about 2 or so Su-27Sk/J-11 crashes in the rumour page, along with a UBK in the past 2-3 years as well. To me, PLAAF should really get some LIFT as soon as possible, the UBKs and MKKs are getting terribily overused, not only in advanced air combat training or ground training, but also been used more that 50% of the flying time in navigation, HOTAS, terrian familiarazation trainings… what a waste of UBKs and MKKs…

P.S. Now you mentioned it, it is still preferable to lose planes in real trainings when the planes and the pilots are pushed to limits, rather that what happened a few years ago, when Sukohis are lost in typhoons, blue on blue and running out of fuel (reportedly a J-11 went down with that) I suppose … Still sad though.

Forget it, some people with their bleached skin view others in a light with a sense of “superiority”, just ignore him plawolf.:)
P.S. Vortex, You are lucky you did not say that standing in front of me, or I might not be able to restrain myself to not inflict severe bodily harm, in any way I could, to an @nal passage like you.
