Great pics Cestrian. Have you got any early pics of the Jetstreams (T1/T2/31/32’S)?
Cheers,

If I remember correctly, it had a repaint not too long ago. I saw it a few months back and looked in very good external condition. Let’s hope it goes to a good home.

On the subject of ‘preserved’ concordes, what news of the one in Barbados?
And also, what happened to Manchesters plans to put theirs in a glass fronted hangar?
J man
Will the CAA not class it as a complex aircraft? If they let a Concorde fly in private hands why not a lightning?
Personally, i don’t think we’ll ever see concorde fly again for the reasons listed in above posts plus think of the insurance!
How about ground running one a la Bruntingthorpe? At least it will be ‘alive’.

Canberra still for sale at £2500.

This is is the prototype FGR 1 rather than the prototype per se I take it? Is it not covered by some American treaty that says only a national collection can have them?

I’m referring to the Comet testbed.

It looks pretty complete (externally). I wonder how much it was? Seem to remember everett aero recently had some f/a 2’s though I may be wrong.
If he wants it looking after, i’m sure theres a local atc unit (or sea scouts I know it’s Navy!!!) that would pitch up. Theres also a wealth of enthusiasts who could be of help in the area too.
I’m still hoping someone buys that DERA Jetstream!!!! 🙂

The RAF nimrod mock up based on a Comet fuse is pictured in the last W&R. When is the next W&R due by the way?

Stockholm Arlanda museum
Just to update above, i may also be visiting Arlanda. According to various net sources the museum is closed until further notice. Is this still true?
Cheers,

The andover is ripe for a museum. Enthusiast interest plus the Queens flight connection appeals to the public. I’d bid but i’m skint and will be for ever!

Constraints applied by US were…
1] had to be sold to another air arm
2] retained on MOD property
3] delivered to “Official” museums.. so Bruntingthorpe can’t have one.
4] scrapped….However I do believe a couple have slipped the net but not sure, if so good luck to their new owners, and don’t tell the yanks, we lost one because someone couldn’t keep their mouth shut.
Am reliably informed by a friend at RAF Waddington, that his team personally cut the engine mountings out of all but 2 or 3 of the RAF’s F4 K’s and M’s that were till in one peice in the mid ’90’s…. also majority of the RR Speys were sold to China (know thats true cause I saw 93 of them in a hangar down south awaiting shipping some years ago) reputedly (minus burners) for their BAC111 fleet, ‘though that sounds a bit far fetched to me, even for the Chinese.
😡
Chinese 1-11’s? Not sure if any ever went there. Tridents are a different matter though.

Living under the flightpath to Woodford, loads of Nimrods(incl AEW),748’s in 80’s, Vulcans for tanker conversion during Falklands, Buccaneers for refit in late 80’s. Not to mention the airshows during one I helped out the Connie crew with a problem (i was on the RJ production line at the time ) so they rewarded me with free stuff!
Also, Ringway isn’t far. Loads of Caravelles, 707’s, 1-11’s,tridents etc during early 80’s.
And….the smell of burnt kerosene!
All influenced me as did my Dad.
