Regarding the shack my understanding is that they were worried about corrosion around the undercarriage and the possibility of the airframe collapsing whilst being moved. Hence have taken some of the bits off it to lighten it. As I understand it is way down their priority list for restoration.
Save it and send it to the Avro museum at Woodford. Ideal.
Are there recent updates please? Is the Shackleton disassembled now? Thanks.

Very interesting news on future plans:

Plus on the main site it shows the Avons being installed on the Lightning recently. Good luck to a great group of people.
Isn’t this an indication of the fate of most large aircraft preserved outdoors in the U.K without concerted efforts to maintain them in reasonable condition?
Shackleton sold?
One Shackleton is being dismantled according to recent update
Sorry for dragging up an old thread but the following link suggests XL563 for sale:

Bbc sound effects on vinyl: Avro Shackleton!
Open up a new museum at Manchester airport using the Concorde as the centrepiece and add some iconic North West products like the Lightning -HS125-Canberra and Tornado!
Lots of hangar space at Woodford for that. Flight sheds would be ideal.
Great stuff. What’s the plan for the Herald?
Any use for the Bruntingthorpe/Elvington groups?
Spey 101
bargain Canberra window?
