I believe XW750 is still operating. The nose of G-ARAY was in a scrapyard down south last I heard. Think I read it in W + R. Does anyone remember a few years back a group that advertised in the national aviation monthly mags about pleasure flights throughout the summer as a member of th e 748 club? I remember it being a b and w photo of an ex-dan air machine I think.

Another prime candidate for preservation on its way to a slow death then perhaps? Only one Andover preserved in the UK and no 748’s? Unbelievable really. I just hope Emeralds series 1 gets preserved.

    Thanks AvroRJ,

One of the fuses went to Doncaster Museum. J32 c/n 986 was outside the MU for a while then its gone to a tech university somewhere. There is however a J32 or 41 fuse minus nose painted in Bahrain defence force colours outside in a corner near flightsheds! Practice for the sprayers before the RJ’s?

    Cheers Skypilot.

You wouldn’t happen to be going to a humberside based airline would you? 🙂

The ATP and 748 cockpit procedure trainers are now with AST at Perth by the way.

    Andy,

Far from being scrapped, it is now resident at Humberside with Eastern, albeit in a disassembled state.

A great experience for me. Quiet enough to be quite personal, close enough to runway to melt eyebrows. Superb photo opportunities. I have to say it’s absolutely fantastic to see these aircraft looked after. It would have been unheard of 10-15 years ago. It’s a pity they haven’t got hangarage. Saw Massive Machines on Discovery at weekend peering into the Guppy. Pity they can’t run that up. Pity they didn’t get one of the RAF’S Jetstream t.1’s too. 😉

    Any Lansen news?

    Buccsociety,

Did you ever make any progress with your requests for info for this aircraft? It’d look good jetting down Brunty’s runway!

    Any news on XM603?

Apologies for dragging up an old thread but is there any news regarding Woodfords Vulc? The last I heard was a possible move to Aviation viewing park at Manchester.

    Cheers

I seem to remember the cockpit of G-ARAY is still in a scrapyard (Stock?) down south somewhere. Im surprised no one snaffled that up.

    Mornin’ all,

I’m surprised the Gannet hasnt been purchased for spares for G-KAEW the aew3 that Kennet are restoring to fly. I hope these machines find a home.
