RE: Echelon
Geforce,
That scandall you say about wasnt just for satellite system. It also included lots of radar sites, mobile radars and CC centers and the program was called SIVAM/SIPAM (Amazon Vigilance System/Amazon Protection System) the same as for which were developed the EMB-145AEW, -145RS and the ALX (AT-29 Super Tucano). I dont remember how much the program was avaliated but I am sure it was much more than US$ 1 bilion. Many things were left unexplained about that.

RE: Primer
well I think you Americans should read any book about CIA operations in Lation America during Cold War. And please, get one writen by a Latin American, ok? About the recent coup in Venezuela, I havent read enough in order to say anything about it.
About the penguins, it is rare seing them here in Brazil but some of them always show up in winter (its really cold here in southern brazil in winter… in a city just 100 miles away from here the temperature has already reached -10ยบC in the end of June).

Kev35: I am not saying its alright discrimanate a people just because a few rich teenagers are spoiled when outside their own country, but I do can comprehend that most of the discrimanate that Brazilians (including myself) and I do comprehend because I live in a city (Florianopolis) where many Argentinas used to come in summer (before their terrible economic crisis) and they (not all of them, of course) make here a very mess. Some years it was prohibited diving with dolphins over here due to a few stupid Argentinans who sticked ice cream sticks in their hole over their head (cant remember how it is called). So many people here hate Argentinans just like the way Americans dont like us (ahhh.. today I saw 3 penguins in the beach!! they are so cute ๐ ). And anyway, I have already heard many stories much worse than mine of friends to went to Europe (one of them went to Swiss and he said that when he went into a supermarket, it was said in the internal sound of the supermarket: “There are Brazilians inside the market”.. can you believe this?!??!)
Sauron: republic was installed in Brazil in 1889 (or something around this) so I think our democration procress was already consilated when, in 1964, happened the military coup with full support of CIA. and by the way, Brazil has one of the 10 biggest world economies.
mixtec: most of brazilian were also killed by portuguese and native people are today something around 3-5 porcent of our population so I think it wasnt the real matter.

RE: …
Vortex,
Im not blaming CIA for our poverty rates but for our 25 years military dictatorship. About your point of view of Brazilians, I dont disagree with you because I agree that most of Brazilians teenagers are really very spoiled (as most of others teenagers from any country in the world traveling without their parents, right?).

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-07-02 AT 09:17ย PM (GMT)]Well Im Brazilian and I would like to add somethings:
1. Dont come telling me that Americans are the “freedom soldiers” when they installed and supported a military dictature here (and in the whole Latin America). As you (Americans) lost against nazism and communism in WWII, we lost many fighting fighting against military dictature.
2. What was that “we give more aid and feed more people than the rest of the world combined”? Oh please… I think we all saw the recent Brazilian government (combined with other countries) fight for the producing medicines for AIDS without paying royalties to the American industries. To all people who dont know, medicament for AIDS is free here in Brazil and it wouldnt be possible if this didnt happened.
3. This is a personal one: When I went to US, it was really sad the way many people (just make it clear: i dont mean ALL of them) treat us… They looked at us not as human beings and there was once that I and some friends went into the hotel swimming pool and all the 3 americans went out and started looking very angry at us.. Man, that really hurts.
Well, I dont really hate Americans (despite all these facts) but, please, dont come telling me that you are the “good guys” or the “world protectors”, ok?
