    Webpilot,
#118 – Sutton Bridge? Or maybe Catfoss?
    #188 West Malling?

Apologies if they’ve been ‘had’ already, not had time to read all the posts!

#110 is Ingham (Cammeringham), just north of Scampton.
#82 right – how about Tengah? Or Seletar?

58 MU covered Lincs from its base in Newark – Sid Finn’s Lincolnshire Air War had a good chapter on them, plus detailed their recoveries.

Wouldn’t ask for much, right now I’d settle for a Mossie.

    Maybe a B-36 for the noise…….

[QUOTE=merlin70]Isn’t there a touch of irony here?

IIRC the field in which the development is planned was once part of wartime DX.

The construction of the M11 lopped a large chunk of the runway off. Not only has the M11 restricted fly ops due its initial construction but it now threatens them completely with this proposal for a MSA.

IIRC, the runway area lost when the M11 was built was the post-war extension, which is how the gits who planned the motorway in the first place got around the hoo-ha from aviation historians and enthusiasts, the original WW2 airfield was left intact, so to speak. Uncle Roger’s “Airfields of the Eighth – Then and Now” I think bears this out.

Not defending the gits though, the full 6000′ runway at DX would have allowed so many more possibilities. 🙁

    Objection posted.

    Luftwaffe WW2

Just to digress slightly, I’m interested in the WW2 Luftwaffe airfields, can anybody point me towards a good site for pictures of said airfields? I have a reasonable command of German, so .de sites would be OK too.

    Many thanks

What about IX, XIII, 28, 31, 47, 100, of the sqns still going? No stories going around about IX, that’s for sure.
