Just to throw a little fuel on to the fire, so to speak. I was told on this thread that Typhoon has NO advantages over Rapter. i think You’ll find, boys, that the manufacturers don’t agree with you.

Quote: ‘He who laughs last, laughs longest!’
One of the worst pieces of trolling i have ever seen on this forum, or indeed on any forum.
So you didn’t think that was a political move, the intention of which was to send a gesture of goodwill to the new US president (in the hope that he’ll scrap plans to place ABM missiles and radars in Europe)? Strange really, that was how most commentators saw it.
They saw it that way because many of them are completely utterly and hopelessly wrapped up in Obama, others because they don’t want to admit a percieved Russian weakness.
I think the RuAF wants to put pressure on the Duma for a bigger budget to buy new fighters. The air force may well be intentionally exaggerating the facts.
They do but they are sruggling with the economy at the moment an example of this being the scrapping of the plans for a whole load of Iskander missiles facing into Poland, money was simply to tight and plans that seemed solid 6 months ago are now not worth the paper they are written on.
Of course you might always think the quality of russian aircraft is inferior, to western fighters but in fourth generations the Su-27 and MiG-29 are the best even in their latest incarnations they can beat the Eurofighter and Rafale.
Thats very debatable and certainly not at all clear cut that the latest models can beat Typhoon and Rafale as Typhoon and Rafale totally out perfom the 27 and 29 in many key areas. Perhaps airshow agility is the only thing the 27 and 29 have in thier favour but the Tyhoon and Rafale are close enough in that regard so as not to be a real issue.
Well, you have to think about the smaller threats. The Autumn War in Georgia proved that smaller conflicts don’t usually cause for nukes. In those cases, air support and air superiority are sorely needed.
They really need to get their Glonass GPS sorted out too, from what I read it was basically useless in the Georgian conficlt and they were damn lucky the weather stayed favourable otheriwse it could have been very different.
MCA is not Tejas or MRCA its the preposed twin engined, Medium Aircraft for the Indian Airforce. What worries me is ‘stealth features’ which don’t necessarily mean full stealth.
You have to remember that “stealth” is a great marketing buzzword, a tool if you like in the sellers box.
At my point of view Burges are perfect hulls. For me an 50% larger version of Burge will be perfect. I don’t know why USN wants to return to “monitor” era. Why DDG 1000 should be such a stealthy. For a war against Iran lol!! Iran has 2 generation fighters 3 Kilos SSNs and 3 old , about 40 years old, British built corvetes. As for North Korea, they have WWI technology, and you can shoot down their missiles even by using Nike Hercules from museums!! So why the navy needs this awful floating box?
My proposal is an enlarger version of main DDG-51 hull about 285 m long and 15000t tonage.
Who says America is limited to only having North Korea and Iran as its enemys and that current allies can not switch sides in the future? Also what about the traditional enemys that are The Soviet Uni, sorry Russia and China, do they somehow not count?
Shouldn’t all this be in the historic aviation forum section?
My guess is Israel is not likely to get F-22’s……..same for Australia. Really, in my opinion Japan is the only likely candidate for exported Raptors. IMO
Given the Raptors ideal operating regime is high and very fast would israel even be able to get the most out of a fighter like the Raptor considering its tiny airspace?
There must be some serious problems in the project for these delays.
I reckon that Jeff is likely to be disappeared by the mods if he carries on like this. I’m not Chinese by any stretch of the imagination and even I’m mildly offended by his comments.
Why are you offended over allegations that China makes alot of rubbish quality goods?
If you look at the last few years at some of the goods China have produced there have been without question some outstandingly bad products such as contaminated baby milk, lead in toys and contaminated dog food to name a few of them.
What I meant is that newer tech will reduce the cost of components like AESA radars, EW suites electronics etc.
Sadly it seems this is never the case even though its what is always promised as they, the manufacturer always find ways to bump the price up and rip off the customer.
When talking about the Bronco I always have to think of the Venezuelan 1992 coup. Two Broncos shot down by F-16s, weird.
That bodes well for USAF Broncos…
You have somehow ‘forgotten’ about the fact that espionage went both ways. USA has fed a whole espionage apparatus for decades, transported whole container ships of documents from Germany, later they were sending satellites over the mailand, paying spies from all fields of Russian industry and infrastructure, buying off Russian aircraft from other countries (Egypt, Israel etc.) but no, they of course never copied anything, the whole mess was just for fun 😉 I guess you , too, will have to live with it that US have copied and stolen exactly as much as others have copied and stolen from them. Get used to that..
Its not me who forgot anything about the Americans mate as it was never the subject, the subject was the one you where getting all emotional over the: Soviets and Russians being labled as copyers and thieves.
Oh and It wasn’t forgot on my part about America or everyone else copying as i stated in post number 132 where i said “I think you’re just going to have to live with it that alot of Soviet/Russian stuff is infact the result of copying and borrowing ideas and solutions found in other countries, don’t worry though they all do it.”
– the ‘don’t worry they all do it’ part being especially relevent…
You forgot to add that you, of course, know sooo much about the US military.
If you can name another country with as many bases around the world in all different countries intermixing with all different cultures you’re quite welcome too as are you quite welcome to name another country with the same cultral and ethnic diversity as the United States, be warned it could be very very tough…
I think its most obvious to all but the most anti american folk on here that what Spitifre9 stated was complete tripe.
