And as it turned out, the reason why France & Germany did not approve is because they were (in viloation of MULTIPLE UN SANCTIONS) supplying arms & other santioned materials to Iraq…

Don’t forget the other buisness deals and debts that prevented French involvment plus Chiracs well known and fully documented admiration of the cruel and brutal leader Saddam.

I am also sure that you so conveniently ignor that the OEF coalition was in fact LARGER than the ODS coalition.

Expect him to conveniently ignore anything that does not fit his pattern of thinking, including the facts you just pointed out.

If the work on UAVs keeps up to its present pace then the ‘new’ manned fighters now on the drawing board may be obsolete much faster than any previous generation.

Its going to be many many decades till UCAVs match the A-A abilities of modern 4th and 5th gen fighters though, don’t expect to have that capability within the next decade or two.

I would have thought a fast jet was the least able to get visual identification without exposing itself to unnecessary danger, the speed at which it flies is a real disadvantage, the A-10 is a good example of what a visual ident plane should be like.

A-10s give quite an appalling level of visability of the target compared to the latest targeting pods.

Non the less.. not many diesel subs scored simulated hits against battlegroup carrier and Colins did.. though so did Gotland.

Not being picky but you really need to read into how those navel excercises were carried out and what they are mean to achieve, its way to complex a subject to go into any depth here but there is info on the net that shows that whilst the carrier simulated hits do happen it is a far different process then under real world conditions for a great number of reasons. I’m not trying to take away any ‘victories’ from your team but am merely pointing out its alot different then commonly thought.

Just a shame this is going to be just another bash the Eurocanard & the F-22/F-35 are gods thread……

The truth be told the F-22 is pretty god like compared to these 4th gen aircraft.

Sure technology will evolve. The problem is that Typhoon is behind the eight ball and as counters to stealth evolve, stealth will also evolve. Technology advances for both sides.

    I’d agree with that.

the BBC wasn’t clear enough which wasn’t that often.

Just to add the BBC were well involved in the ‘stop the war coalition’ even going so far as to assist them in organising the protests, not an unbiased source of information at all.

NOT US, not the Germans and NOT a LOT of European people BTW even Britain went to war with a majority of its folks against it.

Garbage to be polite (and I am actually trying to be here believe it or not)
Let me explain. Whilst there where alot of very vocal anti war and anti Iraq war protesters the majority of people were in favour. Remember its not always those who shout the loudest that have the majority.
An example would be the office I worked in at the time had three extremely vocal anti war movement people in it, whilst the other 18 people were for the war but didn’t shout there mouth off about it and let the anti war bunch have thier say (which was annoyingly frequent). It really is tripe to say they the public did not approve as the silent majority did. I hope i have managed to make that clear without seeming rude!

Why are people having trouble with this. It cannot be more clear.

    Raptor = Bird of prey.

    Go to http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/raptor

Isn’t Raptor the generic name for birds of prey of certain families? My bird knowledge is not great unless it comes to my Pigeons or Blackbirds and other garden creatures. 🙂

If I had the choice between this and the F-22, (I refuse to call it the “Raptor”, stupid frikin name, named after a dinosaur, stupid things they were

Whilst not quite up to Jurasic Park the movie levels of lethality from what i’ve read Raptors were pretty amazing hunters, something about teamwork and stealthyness in the way they hunted, quite an apt name I think even though I do think dinosaurs are pretty unexciting in general. perhaps they were running out of birds of prey to name it after, F-22 Bald Eagle or F-22 Sparrow Hawk don’t sound to clever…

There is an occaisional rumor about a secret derivative that has been flying for some time. We can only hope!

Ohh any links to these rumours? Sounds intersting, I wonder perhaps make 60 and have it as the real 117 replacement in a dedicated strike squadron.
I still think the better choice for the actual F-15 replacement was the 22 though.

    No.

Well, you sure did go to some real trouble there with that answer, must have taken ages! 🙂

I was under the impression that Plasma based systems caused a very very visable glow around what ever it is shielding, is that correct or simply nonsense?

Actually I’m pretty sure the only MiG-25 we’ve gotten our hands on was due to digging around in Saddam’s backyard…literally 😀

Do you know what happened to those sand covered 25’s the OZ forces uncovered? Thinking about it the last I ever heard of them was when they were dug up, nothing else since at all about them.
