It would be a lot more serious to compare to the number of F-16 crashes during its first 100’000 hours. There is a reason it was called the lawn dart.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
For the Gripen crashes I found a list of them on Wiki, one can se for one self if those had anything to do with quality of aircraft in operational service.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accidents_and_incidents_involving_the_JAS_39_Gripen
5 lost out of just 230 or so Gripens built is clearly not a good figure.
I am sure the Dutch will take your feeling of safety when they decide what to buy. No one cares in which aircraft you feel safer 😉
Nerves were struck I see :diablo:
Breathtaking quality of SAAB products ? Let’s see…The grippen A was operational in 1996. Let’s compare it with the similar LM product:
-F 16 (blk. 50/52, operational in 1991). At 100,000 hours, 2.3 class a incidents.-the grippen thing totals a little over 100,000 hours. IIRC 5 were lost.
I wonder what’s the reason for this: the “breathtaking quality of SAAB products”, or crappy pilots … :diablo:
Thats pretty eye opening, I know which i’d feel safer in!
See, in the above Mr. Pogosyan is implying that local Indian contractors will get many contracts to manufacture “nuts & bolts” of PAK-FA, India being a cheap manufacturing destination. Many local firms that supply parts to ISRO, DRDO etc. are likely to be “roped in” for this also.
Seems to me like you Indians are getting used for slave labour purposes, I thought you guys had laws against that sort of exploitation.
Still do not explain the beak like front projection and the tail. Your first theory as the bird looks more accurate.
If the photo shows a bird its a massivly deformed bird with three or four wings…
Oh, well, I will just cross my fingers and hope F-35 will beat all future threats the next 50 years or so…
And you honestly think the Gripen in any varient is going to be good for the next 50 years?
Cheaper products generally are cheaper in quality too so its of no suprise. Why this needed a commision to figure out is beyond me.
I missed this one in the first place! So it’s 1.8 M? I wonder what LordAssap/GlobalPress/Sampaix/Fonk has to say…:diablo::p:D
That was the very first thing i thought as I laughed loudly to myself. That sucker must be red faced now.
funny seeing them hold a model of an F117. Thanks for the link
Thats probably the PAK_FA :diablo:
The target set, if you include Russian boats at all, is now just a very modest number of increasingly discrete SSN’s and, for the remainder, a sprinkling of commercial export SSK designs. The S-3’s arent a good fit to counter either sufficient to justify their inclusion in the airgroup.
It really is that simple.
Isn’t the S-3’s MAD gear good for exactly that though – finding quiet subs in littoral waters?
Israel was defeated in the last two wars – Lebanon and Gaza. I
Your a funny guy, I don’t know where to start with that whooper of a comment, perhaps taking a look at current Hamass neighbourhoods would be a start, if you can find any still standing that is. :diablo:
Since 80s they have become more an aggressor than a defender and their worldwide fanclub has been reduced accordingly.
Only in the eyes of the confused left wingers.
I have no problem with the Tomcat going, they were heaps anyway but the S-3’s going was a freaking dumb move if ever there was one.
In any large-scale engagement between F-35 and Su-35BM/Rafale/Typhoon on relatively equal terms
Thats your first mistake, thinking any competent commander is going to commit his forces to the fight on equal terms. You’d probably be looking at any where from four to sixteen F-35s in any decent strike package, plus all the other aircraft doing thier jobs such as Raptors, AWAC etc etc.
The truth is fact that the F-35 not having heaps and heaps of Amraams is not going to matter to much at all.
*cough*
So the Russian Navy is buying Mig-29Ks to keep the company afloat…?
Sure does seem that way, in fact i’d go so far as to flat out say yes thats exactly what they are doing.
