It can, but I have no freaking idea why you’d want to with the extraordinarily tiny combat persistence in either role that gives you.
What about the 8 SDB with DIME warhead + a couple of A-A missiles, hardly limited in any way whatsoever and far far more survivable then any conventional jet.
Israel stopped the Lebanon war because of international pressure. Their war record is impeccable and the Arabs have tried and failed how many times ?
Thats pretty much correct, if there is a next time with Hezbollah then expect Israel to do to Hez what they did to Hamass.
No Rafale on aero india ?
It broke down on the way there.
Good read that was, shame it was so short.
Yawn. Show me one single government that is not linked to industry and military and not fully corrupt. If you ever thought of Norway, then look at the recent F-35 vs Gripen selection process. 😎
This screams of childish finger pointing,
“you bought the wrong plane, you’re all crooks and liars!”
The whole nexus for this war is to make the Middle East safe for Israel.
Tickets to your alternate dimension, where can I get them?
I personally don’t care to believe anything about Hussein. I don’t have to. I just sit down and get the facts presented. In my understanding, a 55-gallon container full of pesticides is not classified as WMD. What will you do with it? Load it on an An-12, fly over the troops and drop the sh!t? Good luck trying…
While I don’t doubt a POSSIBILITY of its use as a weapon, the same way a barrel full of boiling water would kill you. Or do you want to start to classify a kitchen knife your wife uses as a personal defence weapon?
From the article, note the use of the term “drums” and not “drum”
:Another find occurred around the northern Iraqi town of Bai’ji, where elements of the 4th Infantry Division (Mech) discovered 55-gallon drums of a substance that mass spectrometer testing confirmed was cyclosarin and an unspecified blister agent. A mobile laboratory was also found nearby that could have been used to mix chemicals at the site. And only yards away, surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles, as well as gas masks were found. Of course, later tests by the experts revealed that these were only the ubiquitous pesticides that everybody was turning up. It seems that Iraqi soldiers were obsessed with keeping their ammo dumps insect-free, according to the reading of the evidence now enshrined by the conventional wisdom that “no WMD stockpiles have been discovered.”
Your choice of words reveals what really matters to you. And since you’re not talking about the Rafale, but it’s mission planning system, who cares ? The problem is that it works with Windows, and the real problem is not a Rafale problem, just matter of network security. Basically nothing to do with aviation.
Its got everything todo with aviation and you know it, an absolutly integral part of the Rafales ability to perfom missions was broken by a virus, I don’t know why you and others can’t seem to admit this.
You only read the sources that suit you, don’t you ?
The navy spokesman formally denied that the Rafale were grounded.
What about the F22 which were not able to cross the time line ?
The F-22 is not directly related to this Rafale thread in any way at all, not that it would bother me if it did as i have no interest in it.
Face it the Rafale was screwed over by this virus.
And before electronic mission planning software, air defense was only for threat in visual range of the airfield ?
Please read what the only source (Liberation) how say the Rafale was grounded wrote :
Your source only states they were not directly affected which we already knew, however if you think having your mission planning software fail is fine and dandy you are most welcome to, most others would think its a minor disaster if it means the jets cannot do what they were desinged to do. No amount of spinning can make this right, just accept the fact the were caught out badly, it screwd the flying up and that they need to be far better prepared to meet cyber threats in future.
1. Got a link?
2. Does that mean that every country using pesticides is now a threat? Time to start packing..

Its ok, you just let your sweet little head believe Saddam had an insect problem of biblical proportions if you want to, don’t be suprised when others start laughing at you though.
And of course, french pilots are not capable of following a heading.
I think you will find mission planning software does a little bit more then just headings and waypoints…
Dual purpose items for a chemical factory are something like that.
Reminds me of the US troops who found absolutly massive amounts (thousands of barrels) of a dual use pesticide chemicals in Iraq following the invasion, all of it was stored in hardened military bunkers.
As the troops who found it said, Saddam either had one hell of an insect problem that required military oversight or he was up to no good. I will leave the reader to figure the probable reason for these massive stock piles to themselves…
that a worn could ground fighters squadrons! 😮
But thats essentially exactly what it did, ground your fighters through affecting the mission planning. From the report “The aircraft were unable to download their flight plans after databases were infected” which lets face it sure makes it sound like they were stuck on the ground if they can’t upload any mission software, whats was it gonna do take off but not leave sight of the airfield for fear of getting lost?
Oh, just let every Terrorist Group have Nuclear Weapons!
Yep, thats exactly what our Che loving Iran fan coolieno99 and many others here would like to see, the mass prolification of nuclear weaponry to shifty states that are known to be the worlds biggest exporters of terrorism.
(I’d normally snigger at this point but humour fails me in this case)
