Hopefully the Tiffie will be next in the queue -bearing in mind 109’s are ten a penny in comparison!
With tyres rotting off the rims, a Varsity (I think) prop and spinner and that missing radiator which really needs to come back from Freeman Field (see elsewhere in forum) this UNIQUE survivor surely deserves better!

You can add some hangar rash on the port wing tip to the list of Typhoon ailments.
Here’s a before shot of the Defiant for comparison.

I spoke to Kev yesterday. He’s got his hands full at the moment but I’m sure he’ll pop in when he has time.

Don’t forget the slow boat from Vietnam with the Skyraider engine and prop onboard.
I thought you were here to maintain standards? :p
Odd innit as unlike the later Hornet, the Mosquito has even handed engines so you will get swing.

Do we expect the tabloid press to really research aircraft stories to the finite detail or are they catering to an audience that is probably 99% not aircraft enthusiast?
When they include the words “this is the Spitfire that crashed”, yes, I do expect them to have made a little more effort with the photo. There are plenty of photos of the post-resto test flying on here if not anywhere else.
Some of those involved appear to have a similar project already running, but just for one Spitfire rather than a squadron of, as yet undiscovered, Spitfires http://www.westerntelegraph.co.uk/news/9054269.Spitfire_museum_opens_in_Pembrokeshire/.
Does anyone have any recent progress information? The website doesn’t give much detail.
Edit: I found these photos of the project http://www.spitfires.talktalk.net/page3.html
Jeepman, superb!
But wouldn’t you want to see a proven track record before spending so much money?
£58k sounds like an awfully tall order for a tupperware Spitfire. Couldn’t they be sourced for less than that from a local Cornish company?
Well so far the project’s not received much support from the twitter tasters sent out to potential Spitfire Ambassadors. I’d have thought that Gary Barlow would have leapt at the opportunity.
