Perhaps an assumption would be out of place amongst such a worthy schedule of events? However, are we to understand that the aerodrome and prize Spitfire are to be purchased before the charity is registered and aren’t therefore, necessarily, assets of the charity, which won’t be raising funds until after the purchase? Previous large ticket prize lotteries for houses etc have frequently fallen rather short of the value of the prize, let alone funding a multi-million pound venture, so this demonstrates a great deal of faith in the outcome.
Also, to go from purchase, through planning to tours in such a short time? It’s taken me six months to churn through the planning process for a new driveway.

It’s been a while since I visited, but I remember the Museum of Berkshire Aviation at Woodley had a display about the company. http://home.comcast.net/~aero51/html/history/mlaviation.htm

……hence why a coatal command finish would serve well on two counts , practicality and a new face on the airshow scene. And i know there are those that will disagree, but that white finish looks so realistic once the exhaust stains and the weather have done their best!
And it fails completely on one rather important count, it’s no longer a memorial to the American airmen it’s commemorated for so long.
I agree, the Belle scheme’s tired and given the opportunity to at least make it an accurate Memphis Belle scheme at the last repaint… well, that’s history now.
With so many more interesting alternatives any change would attract interest and as a life member for ten years or so, I’d welcome a fresh scheme.
