Far from having Luddite tendencies, I actually bought a tablet, although I fear its storage capacity may struggle with the number of images required in the type of database at Ivan’s command.
Online knowledge is a huge asset, but, as Ivan says, simply cannot be a full substitute for printed matter – apart from anything else, it assumes a permanent and adequate internet connection – in the backwoods of Scotland this cannot be taken for granted, believe me !
One of the less acceptable aspects of the new information dissemination will be, I fear, the complete disappearance of newspapers – it is not far off now.
The day when the last ‘Scotsman’ is printed will be a sad one indeed…
I admire those who are organised enough to compile a proper database – something I have always procrastinated about. (Like many other activities !)
What format, Ivan ? Spreadsheet ?
I accept a certain amount of what Ivan is saying, and we get back to the old accusations of elitism – but this is supposed to be a bit of fun, and if a click of the mouse gives you the answer, it renders it meaningless as far as I am concerned.
In fact, an extension of this argument would result in every exam entrant having a tablet armed with Wikipedia, as by inference, acquired knowledge is irrelevant .
Sadly, it probably happens already.
According to my information, a.a., it is the Iris 2. Over to you, sir.
Mais oui, mon brave….
Sadly, aa, it is a sign of the times. Sorry, Lightning Mate, but there it is – like Lance, your sins will get you in the end !
Here is something of a similar vintage, and I don’t think this image appears anywhere on the net, so, hopefully….
Or perhaps the Béchereau 23 ? F-AKGH, maybe…..
Tony, have you tried this forum ?

There seem to be some real propeller-heads there !
Have managed to glean that Edul Zug means ‘anti-clockwise-rotating tractor propeller’. Sorry, that doesn’t narrow it down much.
I did a year’s parachuting there – and remember being held in a lift because a Mossie was arriving with no R/T.
We had to stooge around at 3000 ft and watch it land from above.
Those were magic days. If only I had bothered to take photographs…….
That dark paint job on the leading edges makes the wings look weird indeed !
Hmmm..got me stumped. The flying-boat immediately behind it is the Macchi MC100, but I can’t find any Macchi light aircraft…..
Beefy number………;)
Heavy stuff.
AA, I always make an assumption that you are intimately acquainted with everything French.
If this is not the case, my apologies.
Here is the Renaudeau. You will agree there are similarities, n’est-ce pas ?
Looks like the Renaudeau ‘Aviasport’ but with a larger engine…..
Thank you for that information. Will forward to the photo owner . 🙂
