Thank you, Laurence. I have about a dozen French aviation books……..(I won the school prize in French but it was more than 50 years ago !)
It’s the Czech books that give me the real problems.
RAB’s machine looks very interesting. Hmmm….
Well I can’t be categorical about it, as I suspect few can who weren’t around.. However my photo came from ‘Les Avions Bernard’ by Jean Liron, as did the attached extract. I think the essential sentence is ‘Louis Bécherau entra aux Etablissements Bernard’. The Bernard factory appears to have been built in 1917, but as to the actual company registration, etc, I think we would have to have the book interpreted by a Francophone !
Knowing how contentious this forum can occasionally get, I am happy to receive information to the contrary !
Spot on, RAB. Over to you..:very_drunk:
Designed by a consortium of well-known names, this fighter flew first on Armistice Day 1918. You could say it missed the boat somewhat…
As the search function seems to produce only bizarre results, I can only apologise if this has been posted before……….
Interesting one – the Henschel Hs 121 V2, I believe. There appears to be some debate about whether this was the V1 modified (larger fin/rudder, braced gear and tailplane) or a separate build.
Skytrain, that is most interesting.
After digging around, came across this site hosted by Mr Malvestuto’s nephew, illustrating the concept, but sadly no mention of this particular machine…

I know this is a silly question but -how do you get ‘south of the runway’ without getting (a) arrested or (b) your feet very wet ?????
Great shots, by the way !
Stunned silence all round………
Everything’s bigger in Texas, aa – didn’t you know ???? I like the sound of your Sunday lunch, though…….
Think they claim most of the aircraft are in flying condition. I’m sure you know what motor is in the ‘Dankok’ ! 😉
Correct, sir. Lightning Mate, there appear to be quite a few sites with that image labelled as the HD15, but it is a different machine, as you see here..
Er, I have to say no !
A friend gave me a DVD of ‘Porco Rosso’ which, for those of you who haven’t seen it, is an animated movie combining two of my favourite things – pigs and flying boats. Intrigued ? Watch it !
So here’s a flying boat – sans porcine pilot…….
(if you get this one, and it ain’t difficult, please proceed, as I shall be away for a week or so)
